I doubt you will notice a difference in the air. Both are very good. I do prefer the grommets that Hitec uses than the ones Futaba has with the 3003 and 3004 but that is an extremely minor thing.

RE: hitech servos vs Futaba Servos
The Hitec has higher torque output than the listed Futaba's.
if this is going into a .60 size airplane or smaller then no problem. for a bigger airplance use the Hitec's or a heavy duty Futaba

I feel the same as Chuck and Ken, either/or. I started buying Hitec years ago but at that time it was just a few bucks saved or better choices in flight packs. Today I shop around and buy the bigger servos but my old Futaba and Hitec servos still work very well And still get used.

I would just avoid those Karbonite gears. On the small servos on small planes people seem to like them, but I stripped the gears on three standard Hitec servos on a 4 Star 60. Mike Mayberry admitted they can be brittle and offered to send replacement nylon gears, and then never followed through. Left a bad taste for me.

i use the hxt servos from hobbycity....they work just as well as the cheap futaba/hitec/greatplanes/tower servos centering/presicion wise if not better but have significantly more torque which is very noticible

The thing is that the percentage of goods that HobbyCity sells vs returns is very high.
I am using the HXT 5010 on the old Tower Pro format. Excellent servos if a bit noisey. however I can't hear them in the air...
excellent torque and they are tough tough tough. My trainer has had a hard life as I'm not afraid to try new manuevers and oftne they don;t work. The servos have absorbed the abuse better than some JR and Futaba servo's in other planes.

touch wood, so far, 10 servo's later, they all work just fine.
it a long way to send one back, hence i wouldn't bother if something did go wrong.
i'd never use them in .90size or larger aerobat

Moving on up to ball bearing servos is a good investment in the long run. It's only about $4 more and they last longer without developing slop. They resist damage better too.

RE: hitech servos vs Futaba Servos
I am using both Hitec and Futaba. I think the cheaper hitecs lack quality. Out of the 5x311HS I got for my Tiger 40, one began quivering on the first day itsely. I moved it around to the rudder (from the throttle) and it did OK for 6 months and then jammed one fine day and I nearly lost my airplane. Another let go somewhere along the way. I couldnt return it due to the time gap after purchase
I have the more expensive and double BB karbonite gear HS475HB on my 3D airplane, and touchwood, I never had issues with those.
Then I got myself a set of 225MGs for my Reactor. One of them failed even before I put the thing together and then I lost faith in Hitec. The 225MGs I had imported so I couldnt return them, so they are lying around and I am trying to pass them on (Note I tested all of them after that and only this one has a problem). Since then I stick to Futabas only. I have some 10 x 3010S which are my absolute favourites and (so far) I have not had any problems with them. So I plan to stick to them in the future

RE: hitech servos vs Futaba Servos
just asking out of curiosity; why a heavy duty servo on the throttle? its the least loaded servo of all!?
I'd rather place the heavy duty's on the rudder, Elevator and ailerons and use a std on the throttle, heck maybe even a micro servo on the throttle

RE: hitech servos vs Futaba Servos
Slight subject change: Does anybody know of an inexpensive source of HiTech servo CASES ? I came into some HiTech HS422 servos and the mounting tabs have been removed. I can mount them with double sided tape, but if I could find some cheap cases, I'd rather do that. Tower lists the cases for $6.99 ea. Any cheaper alternatives around???
