Default Full Scale Crash @ Triple Tree Aerodrome!

Happened late today. No information available yet except that the pilot and passenger walked away. Saying a prayer for Pat Hartness and all the folks at Triple Tree and the Joe Nall. Looks like Pat's Stearman hit the trees along the flightline and crashed. News reports says the pilot and passenger will be okay. So very sad. Glad they are okay.

EDIT: This is no longer Pat Hartness's plane. It was sold to another pilot, and is a part of a ride operation elsewhere. The pilot and passenger were flying at Triple Tree when this occured.

Okay, more information. This was Pat's old biplane. It was sold to a local pilot who was using it for rides and personal flights. Pat was not involved. No info on the cause, but based on the debris in the flying wires, it looks like he hit one of the trees on the flight line. The pilot and the passenger both walked away with minor injuries. Both are very lucky, as you can see the plane ended up inverted. I'll post more as I learn what happened.

That could have been a disaster but that God the pilots got out OK. Still a very expensive loss and such a beautiful old plane, it really is a shame. I wish I could afford to repair it.[&o]

That's sad to see. Good that the people are okay, but still terrible to see a total loss of their cherished vintage biplane. I'm building one of them right now, and have seen two incidents with Stearmans in recent months.
