I finally Maiden my HK BD-5 yesterday. I have the BD set up with P-20 jetcat,I did not install retracts to keep it light. I installed a HK 3 axis gyro. I made a dual wall stainless pipe. The model needed a bit of nose weight to balance. My first 2 taxi test were not well because the landing gear are very close to the CG and I couldn't get it to track straight enough to get it off the ground. I reengineered the main gear and moved the wheels back. With that complete, it tracked very well. I flew it around the patch , it was very fast and I kinda thought it was still a bit tail heavy. So I landed immediately.
I didn't use the flaps on the first landing. it is hard to tell on the CG because landing was uneventful. maybe because of the gyro. Ill have to report back after another flight, this one was very short.
