We've had 1099 posts on here for so long it's time to make it an even 1100. Bruce - perhaps you can tell us the latest on the nose wheel strut availability from Robart?

I checked with them today and they are still working on tooling. I get the feeling that they are trying to set themselves up with the proper tooling to make wire struts of all types in house and using the R54 nose strut as their first wire project. It's hard to get the straight scoop from them, but they haven't forgotten about us, believe me...

Well to add my last to this post, let me publicly annouce that I finally got my R54 in the air today. It really was exciting to be such a non event. Balanced where the plans indicate and powered with a PST600R, my Reaction flew like a true trainer. It required a few clicks of trim and nothing ese. Although I only got two flights on it due to a wheel rolling off on landing due to some rough asphalt, I was totally happy. My plane weighs a little more than WD40's, we had them there together, but it was as gentle as anything I have ever flown. As soon as I get a new brake from Sierra Precision I will be back out there and hope to put many more flights on this bird. Thanks Bruce for your excellent instructions and engineering, this truly is a remarkable plane and very sturdy. The PST 600R is a great engine for it as well. Proud to be a member of the Happy R-5-4 Club...![Big Grin](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Congrat's DocYates!!!
Finally will get mine back into the air tomorrow. #2 is coming along slowly but it'll be my best build yet. Pretty easy with all the work that Bruce puts into his kits.
Cheers,

Congrats Tommy! This has been a great Spring for R54 maiden flights.
You guys have inspired me to finish up my second R54 (the one shown being built in the instruction manual). Need to cover and install radio. Will use a PST like Tommy.
There. I've said it publicly, now I gotta do it...

Well today, 2 months to the day that I ordered the Reaction from Bruce I did the maiden flight. What a great (and easy) flying airplane! Anyone wanting to get into a turbine should seriously consider the Reaction. It has a Jet Cat P60 and just about everything else as Bruce suggested. Mr. Tharpe did a great job in the design, the kit, the instructions and offered a little bit of help along the way! Now it's time to get a waiver and burn a serious amount of K1! Already have jet #2 sitting in my shop, a few weeks ago I bought the last remaining Bobcat from BVM.

Welcome to the club. I also had a Bobcat kit, After I flew the reaction for the first time I sold the Bobcat kit. Apart from looking nice, I could not see it doing anything that the Reaction would not do.

Tschuy - I forgot to say thanks for the great inspiration! Loved what you had done and figuared what are the odds that we would both be at the same place with our Reactions! My inside is even done in carbon fiber sheet (plastic version). If I ever get to PA, I owe you a drink!

One more photo, this one with another Reaction. If the one one the left looks familar it's beacuse it belonged to Mike (bnova) until last week when someone at my club bought it. He had a great time flying his as well.

No worries JC..
I'm actually going to duplicate the same layout on my #2 Reaction. Except using different colors
Going to do something slightly different with the equipment installation too. Original plan was to put the JetKitty P70 in it, but now salivating over the WREN 54 SuperSport. I'm hearing a lot of good things about it and it does put out more power the the P70.
When time permits, I'll start posting my #2 build photo's to share with everyone.
Super job JC. Very nice looking jet...

Takeoffs are a non-event. Flies like a true trainer. I did manage to induce a stall up high and she dropped the right wing. Throttle up, little rudder, counted to three and eased in the elevator, she recovered almost instantly. My underwear however may not be as lucky.....
