Seeing how I'm the only one in a real position to answer this, here it is... As many of you know, I'm currently devoting the bulk of my time to a special building project for NASA. However, there are a lot of guys wanting R54s, and many of them want them for Christmas. So I've been putting in some extra hours and cutting parts every evening for a new batch of kits, and my goal is to begin shipping in time for Christmas (soon, I know!). Thank you to all who have waited patiently. If you are on my notify-when-ready email list, you should be hearing from me soon. I'll be sure to post an announcement here, as well.

Roger,
I have had two R54 kits sent to Australia. As I remember the cost was not too bad. I think about us$80. The box is not big but heavy.

UK is a little less, $69 for Air Parcel Post (4-10 day delivery). I don't want to be accused of breaking any RCU rules, so anybody that is interested in ordering details is encouraged to contact me via email or phone. Happy to help!

Here's a copy of the email announcement issued by BTE a couple of days ago. Thought it should be repeated here to get the word out:
Hello Jet Modelers,
Reaction 54 kits will finally begin shipping on Monday, December 18. I
know that's awfully short notice for Christmas, but if you really want
to find one under the tree, it IS possible. I apologize for taking so
long to get the kits ready and thank you all for your extreme patience.
There is still plenty of building season ahead for most of us, so think
it over and let me know if you're ready. I've cut a good size run of
parts, and should have these kits in stock for several months. All
accessories are in stock. If you want to read up on the Reaction 54,
here's the link:
http://www.btemodels.com/r54.html
If you are ready to order or just have some questions, please feel free
to call my toll-free number 1-800-557-4470. Thanks again, and Happy
Holidays!
Bruce

Hello all,
I have the suggested control throws by BTE for ailerons, rudder, flaps, and elevator, but what throw settings are you using for dual, or triple rates on the Reaction 54?

Thanks Dave,
I appreciate everyone's help. My plane is marked as to where the C/G was located, but I would like to make sure that I still have it balanced correctly. What is the BTE suggested C/G range limits forward and aft ? How about any suggestions on C/G ? Thanks.

The recommended CG is 6 to 7 inches from leading edge of wing, gear up, and UAT full with fuel. From the posts I've read, anywhere within that range works. I have mine about 6.75 inches back and it works great.

Glad to hear you are shipping again. It's nice to be able to buy a jet 'kit', I for one still remember what balsa wood is. All the best for Christmas. - John.

Yes, it's a relief to have this kit back in stock. You might find it of interest that several of the early customers for this kit run are outside the US - Netherlands, South Africa, Singapore, France, Italy, Austria, Australia, and Canada!
I will add one note to Bob's CG info. It is 6" to 7" from the LE measured at the wing root. Personally, I've gone back to a more forward CG, somewhere between 6" and 6-1/2".
Merry Christmas, everybody!

Thanks Bruce,
Here is a picture of my R-54 from page 42 of this thread. The plane was built by WD40 and covered by Docyates.
I installed a JetCat P-70 and electronics, ect.. I have taxied the plane at my field (BCMA-Blount County Modelers Association),but I don't have an AMA wavier yet so I will have to fly from a friend's field for my first flights. I am sure that is probably best anyway. My field is 400' long and I would like to have a little extra room for my first few flights. I will post a few recent pictures soon.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Just a "feel" thing, nothing scientific. Had a couple of landing flares get a little twitchy on the elevator. Since I had a small baggy of lead pellets in my flight box ready to go, decided to stick it in the nose under the battery. Next few landings felt more solid, with no noticeable effect on normal flight and aerobatics. I'm not a fan of dual rates or expo, but suspect expo would give a more solid feel during flare too. Gotta try it one of these days...

Hey Everyone,
Well I went and done it. I just bought a Reaction 54. I have been wanting one of these for quiet sometime and the time has come to take the plung. Some of you might have seen it in the classifieds. I just ordered a P70 (what was originally on it) for it and jetcat said it would be here friday or monday. I've been flying a Patriot XL and some quick pattern airplanes during the past year to get ready for this day. I would appreciate any helpful hints in getting this jet ready such as throws on the controls and amount of expo. Do I need to de rate the P70 down to 14lbs of thrust? I do not want to stress the airframe to much. Thanks in advance!!!
