What did you do to your Savage today?
There's an interesting thread like this over on a Jeep forum. Figured it'd lend itself well to this here place.
Anyway, as the title asks...
ThunderbirdJunkie finally got his 30 mostly sorted out, and beat the Savage. Clutch shoes must be getting worn, because he also fragged a 47t spur.

I installed my nylon rollcage and took pics yesterday. I also wasted a sh*t ton of zip ties covering the rollcage. That way, the overpriced nylon won't get scratched, but the cheap nylon will get scratched. (I bought 2000 zip ties last week)

Well...I, took a quick glance at mine sitting in the corner of the kitchen on the floor. Wheels are off, and the motor in 30 pieces on my desk. it was just sitting there up on a wooden block like a neglected child.
So, to answer the question, i just looked at mine today for a second while dragging off to work at 0545hrs this morning. Wont get home till 2000hrs, and i will probably go to try and grab the motor before my wife asks me to do something or my kids need some attention.
pretty much i wont get my hands on it till saturday or sunday if i am lucky[&o]

The pull starter on my original modded Picco gave up, so that is today's Savage repair.. might even Simple Green the thing, it has been a long time since I did any chassis cleanup.

I shortend my fuel lines to combat the half tank lean, and used my last tank of fuel up whist attempting a tune (waiting for some more now )

I looked at mine. What I should have done is go on a search. I can't believe it, but I can't find the old set of stock tires and wheels. How could I lose a set of wheels? I do collect a lot of junk, but those tires and wheels take up a fair bit of space.....where are they? (Probably with Waldo)

Didn't work on my savage... worked at work. Got home and worked on my rustler. Glue tires, changes axles in back, mounted tires. I like the new tires But I have to dremel the washers on the front nuts to fit properly.......... Tomarrow I may drive it for a test run. Savage cooling head and roll bar will be here in 7-14 days along with CEN me16 mt front A arm bumper mounting plate and bumper........[:@] OOPS!! telephone pole!

I took mine out the back of the house but there is not much running area,
so after 2 tanks i got bored and put it in the car and headed off for a run to my local picnic area where there were some
grass slops and an embankment and 3 buggies and a truggy were already there,
i run 4 tanks through it and even tried racing a couple of the buggies,
i was surprised at how well the savage kept up with the buggies on the back straight and on the banked corner,
but there was a twisty bit between two park benches that i hadn`t the balls to keep going flat out through,
ive got a small clip of the bash area, im uploading it at the moment i`ll post a link in a few mins.

I took mine to a dirt field for the first time and really let it rip around. Man is this thing fun. It did get away from me for a second and was almost launched in a retention pond

That is a cool place to run! I need to talk to our local parks department! I surely could continue my upright destruction there!

RE: What did you do to your Savage today?
I was just driving by last week and saw a few trucks bashing there and today was my first day up there,
the guys that bash there are a great help as half way through my first tank my front right wheel flew off,
i found the nut and hex but not the pin[&o],
then a couple of mins later one of the guys asked to see the hex,
he then went over to his spares box and butchered one of his dremel bits
to make me a new hex pin
i run another 3 tanks after that so i was real [sm=teeth_smile.gif]with my days bashing

RE: What did you do to your Savage today?
I took out a couple of my gassers, but after running for only like 20min (maybe a half tank), I came back in with very dirty RCs.
I looked at one of my Saveges, it was looking very sad on the shelf (it probably wanted to be run as well). I took it down, gave it some minor maintenance (lubed the ball beaings, put some afterrun in the engine and turned it to distribute it, etc.)
Though I didnt run it, I slapped on some RPM arms on it so that the suspension arms would be on par with my other two Savages, replaced all the shock springs and topped off the shock oil, took out the diffs to make sure the internal spiders are not lashing (the shimmings are holding up), replaced the air filter and all the fuel lines, and even put on a brand new glow plug.
After wrenching on it, I decided that I will actually fire it up tomorrow!
