Eurosport/Eurofighter Cockpit Detail
Sort of reached that point with the one I am currently building, and looking for ideas outside of the BBI F-15 cockpit retro. If you have done some nice detailing on your Euro cockpit...please post pic's and a little info on how it was done.
Thanks

RE: Eurosport/Eurofighter Cockpit Detail
Well, you have to start somewhere. I had purchased the Elite Force 1/6 pilot especially for this project and come to find that he is too large. I wanted to use the exisiting stock ABS cockpit tub and started modifing it to accept the pilot. This required cutting the stock cockpit into sections and removing the floor of the tub. Side walls to the tub were added to increase the depth and length. Once that is established, a new floor to the tub will be added. Much more work required for even a semi-scale cockpit, but since this is not a scale masters entry...the basics will do. Here a few pics of a trial fit.

Decided to can the stock plastic tub and go for a semi-scale style ejection seat. Glad I did, as I think it is a much improved look over the stock tub. The seat is not based on the MB MK16A as in the real Eurofighter, but more to the liking of a MK10.

Looks good! Now onto the instrument panel and HUD...
Just a little detail like this makes a model look so much better IMHO.

Little Euro cockpit photo update. I must say that in attempting this, I have gained much appreciation for those that produce what I would call super scale cockpits. Currently working on the HUD and MFD's. It's been a challenge to make this a presentable display, and while not exactly happy with a few things... all in all it is IMO far better than the stock tub. Opinions & constructive criticism welcome.

Managed to get a couple more of the MFD's made up today with graphic display. This has been really fun, and I would encourage anyone that may have put off doing a scratch built cockpit due to it's intricacies to give it a try. Watching the cockpit come to life makes you want to keep going.

I'm about to call this a wrap for the cockpit detail. Have another piece to make for the bottom of the HUD and maybe do some more detailing behind the seat on the deck floor and call that good enough. Overall, I'm pleased with the outcome and the best part is that it didn't cost me four hundred bucks.
The only difference between these two photos and the previous one in the last post is that the screen bracing for the HUD has been added and also little dial knobs at the lower corners of the MFD's.

Every time I look at full scale pictures, I see something else in which I think to myself...hey, I can duplicate that! The space between the seat rails at the rear looked void, so I had a go at duplicating the large cylinder between the seat rails. First pic is view from rear of the full scale and then my rendition.

Mike,
Yes, the cockpit was scratch built using balsa, lite ply and styrene plastic. The HUD was made from 1/8" plexiglass with formed styrene supports. The MFD displays were made from images found on the net, resized and printed accordingly.

Sorry Mike, but just like you....I too ran into a roadblock when it came to the cockpit. While the Tailor Made cockpit for the Eurosport is the ultimate in detail, it also comes with a premium price. Outside the Tailor Made and the Bluebox F-15 retro fit, I have not seen much else available for the Eurosport...so I had to have a go at it.
Since those last pictures were posted, I did add a little more detail to the seat by adding the simulated chute pack at the top and a little more detail on the back of the seat between the rails. Have a go at making your own, it really begins to be fun and rewarding watch it all come together.
