Whats the best prop with the DLE30 for a warbird guys (FW190)?

Have a Mejlik 18 x 11 which I haven flown yet but want to have the right prop for the maiden. Looks like 18x8 is very popular but I gather they are for aerobats. Got suggesyed the 18x11 as speed is needed.

Whether I run an 18-8 Xoar or a 18x8 Zinger my plane (25% Edge) is fast. It burns up a lot of sky in a hurry. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 18x11.

Thanks Sam

Shes a heavy bird (as most warbirds are) and its my first "real" warbird build so not sure what to expect as far thrust goes.

My Sea fury is now running an 18x8 laminated from dle australia, can`t remember the brand. It now flies the best it ever has, and i replced the OS160 with a dle. Heaps of verticle, lots of speed and all round just an easy plane too fly and land now!

Nice!!

Fired my DLE30 (in the ESM FW-190) for the first time today with a Mejlik carbon 18x11. Heaps of thrust and power on the ground but wonder if I may find it hard to slow the plane down on landings. Might grab an 18x8 as well to try on the day of the maiden.
Also just in the back yard it was LOUD!!!

Hello people. Found this blog from the DLE30 blog on FG and I finally had the time to run my first 3-12oz tanks of gas through my DLE 30 that sits on my 72" yak 54 all up less gas-11 lbs. 5 oz. Mind you I still have a way to go on break in (even after fixing the SPS syndrome) and the main needle is still as fat as it can be without 2 stroking and my pulls (2 per prop for rpm and thrust) were limited to only 2-3 seconds each. Thrust was measured with a Mustad 50lbs digital fish gauge bolted to the ground in my garage with these results:

Vess: 18" x 6" - 8820 rpm/ 16.12 (that's 16 lbs and 12 oz) to 17.00 lbs thrust
JXF Slow Fly Prop: (from Hobbycity HK) 17" x 8" - 8670 rpm/ 15.3 - 15.6 lbs thrust
Master Air Screw Scimitar series: 19" x 8" - 7740 rpm/ 16.9 - 16.13 lbs thrust

For you who just like trying different numbers to see results I have a good prop thrust calculator page for you here: http://adamone.rchomepage.com/calc_thrust.htm

Have a good one people.

No problem Captin. Have followed your postings on FG on the DLE 30. Thanks for all that info. It helped me with some of my DLE wows. By the way, forecast for Saturday night is 10% snow-no big deal for you people up there in the North but I live in South FLORIDA!!

For good 3D performance it shouldn't weigh more than about 11-1/2 pounds but for spirited sport performance it would do very well. I think you will need to make differentprop choice though, a 10x8 would not do well on the DLE30.
