R/C the most expensive hobby ?
Just wondering about you guys opinions about that what would've been the most expensive hobby ? I just got into this hobby a month ago, my truck is still under construction. Before R/C, I was a heavy computer game player, spending thousands dollars a year to buy new parts, and games. One of my friends was even crazy, he would buy new video cards almost every season(they cost at least $500)not to mention each games cost $60. I personally think that's a very expensive hobby. So what do you guys think is the most expensive hobby ?

An old saying? Money can't buy love, but it can lease it.
Also, don't forget some people collect full-size cars and aircraft as hobbies.
Have you checked out the Power Mac G5? I'm not much of an Apple person but I was impressed--side cover pops off exposing a clear cover that can just pop off. The dual cooling fans just slide out and there are "no" wiring harnesses connecting everything like my old PC. Then there is the liquid cooling system.

i would say that the most expensive hobby that is really popular would DEFFINITALLY have to be paintball. i mean, guys who play in tourneys every weekend spend an excess of 350 on paint and n2 alone! then account for the 1200 dollar gun and 500 in upgrades...its sick.

Anyone heard of Bmx racers? 500+ for a bike. 200 for a helmet. 150 for a jersey (unless u got a sponsorship). Various hop-ups here and there all add up. I heard of someones mom that spent like 10,000 on her sons' bikes.
Then theres road racing, like lance armstrong style (dont flame me for that, I dont kno) I saw a couple of bikes for 5000.
But R/c is expensive.

R/C is my second hobby, My first is my saltwater reef. You want to talk money, you can spend it hardcore. I just spent 500.00 on the lights alone. lol. And the fish, most of which are at least 50 bucks a shot. You can spend it fast. RC is hard to keep in the winter...

RE: R/C the most expensive hobby ?
RC is definately not as expensive as some of my other hobbies.
I like to ride my Yamaha Banshee, bike alone was 6500; and then new Toomey TR6 Pipes those were 500, Helmets 250 each I own 2, Graphics kit 115, thenregular maintenance like jetting and stuff like that, new tires every season...........etc
I also Wakeboard the boat alone is 45000 (Mastercraft X-9) then new boards and bindings it starts to add up

Expensive hobbies. Let's see. I've dropped probably about $2,500+ in my R/Cs, about another $800+ on 1/32 scale slot cars, $8,000 in my 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger, about $700 worth of musical instruments that I hardly ever play anymore, about another $2,000 on high end tools(Snap-On, Matco, Mac, Craftsman, etc...), and soon to be about $6,000 in parts/software for a high end computer that I plan to build. That's all I can think of off of the top of my head.

1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible=$1,000,000. Yes, that's 1 million dollars. 2 of the 9 remaining were purchased by the same guy for around $1 million each. Also the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes go for about $1 million.

Ah heck, $1M is nothing for a car. Try $15M.

RE: R/C the most expensive hobby ?
Before I got into RC I collected arcade games, I now have 6 pinball machines and 2 video games worth about $15,000. Couldn't justify another pinball at about $2000 so I got into RC, where its $100 here and $100 there with only a $500 purchase a couple of times a year for a new truck.

I won a pinball machine once in a contest. However, I gave it away when I moved though I had some good times playing it. I used to wax it about once a week.

I fly full scale which is mega $$. I maintain a bunch of Pc-12's, you guys would not believe the cost of some spare parts [X(]
I also sail skiffs. These cost a lot of $$ to be up the pointy end of the field. A lot of the cost is things such as money spent on travelling away for a few weeks to race. AS for the cost of keel boats.... lets just say if you have to ask then you can't afford it.
