RC Go Kart
Alright, i want to build a RC Go Kart but i have never built anything like this before what i want to do is build it out of wood and fiberglass the wood because i don't have the tools for metal. The Go Kart that i want to build would be 30"long and like 15"wide and i am not sure what engine i want to put in it it is out of a zenoah engine a homelite engine or a chainsaw engine. I don't know where i could get tires from and also i want it to look like a real go kart so if anybody can help me out well help me out and also put pics if u have any thing related to what i want to do so i could build this go kart and have some fun and post things that could be useful.
THANKS

RE: RC Go Kart
i know it is bringing back an old post, but hey, it sounds like a fun project. just for fun, i would like to make one. what my plan is to get a basic off road go cart and give it beefy suspention. also, for the body, make it look like a t-max and give it tires that will represent a t-max if possible. for the throttle, get a high torque servo and for the steering, get a large industrial motor, a large and a small gear and a chain to connect the 2. the only problem is controling that large motor, a speed controler large enough for it.

RE: RC Go Kart
better then a go-cart, what about an atv because it has full suspention on it already and a 150cc+ engine. would just need to make a rolecage for it. and the steering would be the same as the go-cart. for breaks, use a actuater with a relay switch.

RE: RC Go Kart
One advice before you go to far.... the biggest isn't always the best. And im not talking about the quality. Sure it's fun to get as big things as you can, the feeling is there to get a wooow big car to drive, but then when you have it you notice how hard it is to bring with you, and find a place to store it, a place to drive it etc etc.... becoming a shelfqueen.
These project with atv's and similar base is real cool and not to hard, but when it's all done it will probably just stand there and not be used or you sell it, but i have to agree... only building stuff is way fun to, atleast i think so.... not my girlfriend, even if i always try to get her involved in my projects somehow... but she is not really into that sort of thing []

RE: RC Go Kart
I used 2 Tonegawa P-050 servos for my go-kart that is 40" long, weighs 90 lbs and has a 35 hp motor that has already hit speeds well over 100 mph. 1 servo with a servo saver for steering and 1 servo for the throttle brake that I fabricated a linkage for. These servos I bought from Rosendale Hobby in England for around $180 each with the servo saver costing around $30 that both are well worth the money.
This car will be at the RC Car Action World Record Speed Run next month on July 30th in Fontana, CA.
