Default I want to see more pics of home made RC cars, please.

Hello, me again.
I've been looking around the net a lot for home made RC cars to get inspiration and ideas for [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8418631/tm.htm]my project[/link], and can't seem to find any I haven't already seen.
I've searched here on this website as well, and came across an old forgotten thread with some interesting pictures in it, but I'm SURE that between all you guys posting here there has to be more projects floating around.

Even if it's ones that never got finished, or ones that didn't work at all, I'm still interested in seeing what has been built, and how.

Don't be shy - show me some pictures.

Not sure if you came across mine it is currently ver 2 with a toro mower gearbox. Link to 1 and 2.

[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7951559/anchors_7951559/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7951559[/link]
[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8397120/anchors_8397120/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#8397120[/link]

Also If you look at the posts I have responded to they are almost all homebuilt projects.

Where you are headed with yours is a great start you still have a lot of details but you will take care of each one when you are ready. Don't get discouraged in the process it takes alot of time, and trial and error. The best part is I don't believe it can ever be "complete" there is always an improvement or another different idea. I see myself on ver 50 in about 10 years as my skills increase and my imagination gets to work who knows where I will be!!!!!!!!

My unfinished (lots of people here know this very well) home made 1/5 truck. 4WD/4WS with wire rope steering system. Just this week I began making some shocks to replace the blue monstrosities.

THAT'S what I'm talking about.

Don't get discouraged in the process it takes alot of time, and trial and error.
Not at all.
I realised pretty soon that this wasn't something that I'd slap together over a weekend.
Drewcrew - I have seen that video of your Toro gearbox car before - just never realised it was yours.
(even though yor YouTube username is the same)

Kenazzo - Your turbine monster is absolutely awesome, and I've studied it closely too.
How's the truck coming along?
Love the bodywork you do.

Anomie - Wow. Just wow.[X(]

Beasley1 - Great stuff.
That must weigh a fair bit, no?

Lars - Keep it in your pants.

I'm still umming and arring trying to decide if I should go with a solid alloy plate or stick to tube frame.
Not convinced either way yet. but we'll see.
First I need to get the wheels so I can work around them.
Will possibly buy the steering setup but not sure yet.
Keep the pics comin guys.

Oh, is there a thread showing Naynay's build of that truck?

And.......
Did besrman ever show a bigger photo of his magic car?

Almost forgot....
Was gonna show you how my project started out.
It all began one rainy morning in my shed, looking at a brushcutter on the floor sitting next to a steel frame and a wheelbarrow wheel.

Hmmm......
Ideas......

While this was never going to work, it was a fun (and indeed necessary) excercise to get me started on the real thing.
I did manage to get the rear axle spin with that little motor by the way. (just)
The sprocket on the motor was 18 cog and the one on the axle was 54 or something.
That a crappy 23cc motor with no clutch and zero torque soon got put to the side in favour of the 47cc chainsaw.

We've all gotta start somewhere I suppose, and as I've never had anything to do with RC cars before starting this project I had to start at this end.
That and countless hours surfing the net and looking at pictures/videos.
I can guarantee that almost everyone reading this right now have contributed in one way or another to me getting to where I am at the moment with my car.

Compared to the other trucks I know feel inadequate lol . seriously i am jeolous of the other builds. The machine work and ideas are unbelieveable.

And check out the other videos on my Youtube. (shameless plug) [link]http://www.youtube.com/user/drewcrew6[/link]

Anomie: I have seen pics of that somewhere and tossed it off as bought, that is one sweet machine there and you are an ace at machining from what I can tell!

Beasley1: That is awesome very nice work how much do you run it?

Kenazzo: Your work is just pushing the edge along with the ideas.

Lars: as always love the car.

Also what happened to QS? his site does not work and I have not seen him on here?

Some other links I have come across

And as far the infamous buggy the pic That I got and several others here got also. He did not request that it not be posted and I would not do this if asked.
I would say that it might be a modified bought truck but the pic definetly has his own chassis plate but possibly a copy of something produced.
As Demeaning and demanding I would have expected true ackerman steering on it.
But we shall all move on at this point.
I will make no other comments about it until some better pics surface.

We've all got to work within out means though.
For me machining is out of the question unless I take the stuff somewhere, but I'd rather battle on with bits of scrap and old powerdrills and bicycle sprockets.
Getting to [link=http://www.rcuvideos.com/video/FIRST-RUN-avi]this[/link] stage was an awesome feeling and very rewarding.
Just to see that everything worked and the chains stayed on etc.
Of course there were a lot of moments like [link=http://www.rcuvideos.com/video/REV-FAIL]this one[/link] but that's what keeps you going.
One of my mates keeps coming over asking stuff like "Are you gonna paint it?" and "How are you gonna do the steering?" approximately twice a week.
I keep telling him that first we have to see if it's gonna run at all.
Then I'll rebuild the frame and motor setup and THEN I'll start worrying about steering etc.
Keep at it Drew!
I know I will now that I have the bug.

Some other links I have come across
Seen the first 2 of those.
That lawnmowerbuggy is awesome and a bit scary.[X(]
Would love to make something like that one day.
Might have to get Da Mad Maori to build me some huge servos though.

I will make no other comments about it until some better pics surface
Doubt that will happen as he's been suspended from the site....

I love your beast, Maori and can't WAIT to see a vid of it running.
Must be painful to see it sitting there with the "whiskers" still on the front tyres?[]
I'd rip them off if I was you.

And rub some mud on them.

Did you bend and weld that frame yourself?

Excuse my ignorance, but is that little one a home build as well or is it a bought one?

Kenazzo
I've looked at those pics before, and am truly amazed at the craftmanship.
One day my welding might be close to your standards....

so far only one published on youtube, only the first moves in very slow speed there are to be seen. Also the sound of the chainsaw is terrible… There are still a lot of works to achieve a presentable level.

Dirty_Vinylpusher wrote:

perhaps did you mean me? this ride weighs 50 kg (nearly 23 lbs), that is too much. I strive for 30 kg (nearly 14 lbs) at a new one.

drewcrew6 wrote:

perhaps did you mean me? I did not reach yet the limit because of problems with weight and steering as well as the work on the new model. Starting from 50mph would be acceptable for me.

Hey what's going on here?

Beasley....Stock Stone[&:]
Names confused..

And why did the link for that 1/4 scale site get removed?
Is it illegal to post links for other sites here or something?
Just curious for future reference.
Don't wanna get in trouble.

this ride weighs 50 kg (nearly 23 lbs)
Don't you mean the other way round?[sm=confused.gif]
50 kg = 110 lbs
23 lbs = 10.5 kg
