Default Mato Panther Metal Roadwheel Accuracy

Hi guys,

How accurate are the metal roadwheels for the HL Panther G from Mato? I remember reading somewhere that the wheels are thinner than they should be... are they identical to the stock plastic wheels in terms of thickness and diameter? Are these an identical clone of the Asiatam wheels? If so how accurate are those?

Lastly, will the Mato upgrades fit onto the stock suspension arms without the need for modifications?

Thanks!

Nate

The only thing I have heard about these "kind" of wheels is that they are glued together (since they are cast) and not turned like the WECOHE wheels.

But they are about a third cheaper too! I would get them since Mato is offering free shipping. My guess is they fit on the stock HL arms.

Thanks Jeff,

I'd like to get them as well, especially with the free shipping. Can anyone provide a side-side comparison of these wheels with the stock HL plastic wheels?

Hi Nate, You may want to consider this set of HL Panther G replacement wheels from rctank.de.

http://www.rctank.de/product_info.ph...roducts_id=733

This set has the replacement metal swing arms, bearings, and the rubber has the "Continental" embossed on it.
This set is correct in compared to the real thing. I have attached photos, from RC Tank Wars site, so you see what I mean.

I used a set for the Tamiya Panther G. Not this HL set, but they are the same wheels.

A little more expensive, but a better upgrade then just adding the metal MATO wheels to the plastic swing arms.

Here is a good resource of photos for the real Panther G at Bovington that may help you as well.

Cheers, Rudy

Hi Rudy,

Those are exactly the pictures I was looking for! I think Welsh Dragon sells the same set for 10 Euros less:

I might consider getting myself a set!

Nate, I have two sets of these, and a set of the metal suspension arms. The wheels are excellent with bearings though out, something I don't think the matos have. I would definitely say its worth the extra cash!

Thanks Tom,

Do the wheel axes have to be press-fitted onto the swing arms? They do not seem to be threaded.

Nate, That is the same set. I agree with Tom, this set is worth the extra money. It will make the HL Panther G a better runner!!!

Nate, There is a grub screw that holds the wheel axles in place on the swing arm.
I have attached a photo.

I think the mato suspension arms and wheel fittings are pretty much a direct copy of HL system, where as the asiatam have the separate axles and bushes even if your not using the metal wheels it's a big improvement!
