Talking Hooben Maus Tracks

Maybe somewhat of interest to those that play with the idea of building their own Maus Tank but cannot be bothered with the task of also 3D Printing their own Tracks...

Finally got my Hooben Maus Tracks delivered today:

The unpainted ( anthracite ) ones are the Maus Tracks whereas the painted ( and rusty weathered ) one are my own 3D Printed E-100 Tracks.
A set of Tracks is 2x 120cm long plus a bunch of loose spares - Gonna have to dig out my reference book to check if this will suffice 😅

Tomas' work is the holy grail of 3DP. Looking forward to seeing his 251 followup.

M18 Hellcat printed from Cults3D. I replaced the airsoft with a modeled breach and gave it a floor. I also added an IR receptacle on the turret. Otherwise it printed as posted and was a fun build.

Thank you! It runs like a Heng Long tank. It is extremely light, so probably faster than most. But, the M18 was pretty fast. Granted, I haven't run it beyond testing and brief trips across the room, but I think it works great.

That looks absolutely fantastic, and yes, she was very fast, I've read that the Hellcat was the fastest tracked vehicle to see service in World War II, with a top speed of 60 miles per hour. One of my very favorites, and you did a great job on her. I hope you'll do some video and show us how well she runs.

Hi
That's not an M60A1, it's an M60 Slick, with the early turret, slightly modified from the M48 turret.
The M60A1 turret is quite different, more pointed at the front & sqarish at the back.

Merry Xmas
Mal

Once you get all the parts it will be over $300 for just the plastic turret. I can buy a whole tank for that. I'm sure there will be a few die-hards that will cough that up, but I wouldn't expect to see a lot of these at the local battlefield, if you know what I mean. But, shapeways has always had ridiculous prices so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Kinda curious but do these Models come with just the STLs you have to print as is or do they also include the CAD files so one can make edits to them if needed?
Like wanting to install a different kind of Gearbox / Servo or to correct a Modelling Error? 🤔

I guess they only provide the STL files, however these can be edited with different programs.
If the part has lots of flat sides and not too curvy you can convert it from mesh to solid in Fusion360.
Another option is to edit the mesh (STL) directly using a program like Blender.

The STL come as is with no CAD drawings; although, Inkor is active in his Discord server. He is open to suggestions. If it's a modeling error or a printing error he has made corrections, but a major change to the tank wouldn't be likely. All his tanks are designed around using ML49mm (mid/low 49mm short shaft) gearboxes. Some of them might fit higher gearboxes, but the sprocket offset is set to the 49mm shaft length. Most of the tanks now include servo recoil and they use the HL type rotation mechanism for the turret. They are also designed around the HL elevation unit, but I will be modifying mine to use servo elevation.

Can't edit my previous post so I wanted to say if you want to see the internals of all of his offerings you can use his site: https://rc3dtanks.site/

Some of the CAD models are not updated showing the servo recoil though.

I look at that site all the time to see how each tank go's together
and I'm wondering if he plans on doing a M48 also sometime in the future .

I know some folks have asked for it, but it's not in the pipeline yet.

I just downloaded this little puppy which I intend to upscale to 1/10. May follow later with 1/6 if I'm happy with the files.
