So I bought a Tammy Jagdpanther
I am really excited! I took a chance and asked a well known ebay seller if he would sell one for less than listed price and he jumped at it. So with shipping included, I scored a pretty good deal on a brand new kit. I will of course post pics when the big box gets here. I have been wanting a Jagd for quite some time but always another tank jumped in front for one reason or another. This will also be my first Tammy since my JS-2 about a year ago or so. Have any of you guys used the ATAK zim kit? I am thinking of buying one but wanted your opinions first. I will be buying bearings as well, any other suggestions? I am thinking shurtzen but I had some bad luck with an ABER set on my Tammy Panther G. They fall off quite often....

The atak zim kit is pretty convenient, the only thing I don't like is the uniformity and the depth of material is a bit shallow. Daryl was making an aluminum component deck for the elevation and traverse units as the stock plastic one bends. Not sure if he's still making them or not so get in touch with him if your interested. Also a gearbox brace.

Good for you, always great to get a deal. The Tamiya Jagdpanther is on my list also. Not only for the quality but for that main gun traverse. Don't forget the photo's please.

Congrats on the purchase! Try to contact Daryl on the brace. The plastic piece in the kit is disappointing but will work. Bearings are easy-peasy too.
On the zim... I'm thinking of backdating it so with the choice of exhaust and fan for the deck in the kit, all I need to get is the Atak early gum mount/mantlet piece. I believe the Jagd zim pattern is easy to replicate and the Atak zim plates only seem to fit the Late Jagd. I was going to just give in and paint a Late version like this:
Which I think is unique but a few views of the Early versions and I was hooked and can still use the kits barrel:
And even the replica on the series BOB convinced me to do the Early Jagdpanther:

Good deal man. You'll love that thing.
The ATAK kits are also very nice, and very easy to work with. I've found that doing battle damage or missing areas of zim very simple to do with it also. I highly recommend it. As stated by others, get the traverse mechanism from Daryl and the Gearbox brace...or a set of those new TU's from ETO. Won't regret it. Maybe we will see a build thread?

IMO, Making an early Jagdpanther would be a challenge, as you would have to redo the whole back deck, as well as the monobloc 88 gun barrel, and early style gun mount. And there are some roof differences too that i can't think of, off the top of my head. All doable, but would the juice be worth the squeeze?

Huh? Well of course!
We're not talking about just sticking a 17pdr barrel in a Tamiya M4 with HVSS and calling it a Firefly like just about everyone here does. I know what I'm doing.
It's the difference in this hobby... not just opening a box either and adding batteries.
Looking forward to your Jagdpanther Erik!

Well, it finally arrived! As a bonus, I also bought another persons started project that included many metal items I was looking for. So my plans are to use the parts from the new kit I need and then sell the rest. After a basic once over, I think I will end up only using the DMD, MFU, speaker and flash unit. So if anybody wants a cheaper alternative and in the market for a Tammy Jagdpanther, let me know!

Congrats on the TDs! If you're keeping the grey one, I recommend swapping the motors. That is the Asiatam/Taigen brass gearbox and the stock motors are under powered. I have that setup in my PzIII with metal lower hull. No umph...But, if you can fit in Speed400s instead, you should get scale speed with some grunt.

I would make a member here a deal on it, I was thinking $400 if that was reasonable. I am only looking to cover the cost of the other one I bought. I may use the tammy tus as well and include the asiatam brass tus with the kit for sale. Have not decided yet...

So I have been woefully behind on updating this thread. I have just about finished this build, just looking for some ideas on stencils for unit markings and such as the Zim will not allow the water transfer decals to work. Any thoughts or good places to buy? I have never used stencils before...This beast has a DT tus brace, all metal roadwheels and bearings throughout. I have also installed metal elevation/traverse arms, ATAK zim, and Impact metal tracks with Henntec track adjustment. I think she turned out pretty well..
