Default First In Flight Jet Rally May 25-29 2016 !!!!

The “First in Flight” Jet Rally is just a short time away. This year's event will take place May 25, through the 29th. Preparations are in the works already to make this the best one yet. Seems only a few months ago we had the Carolina skies full of jets and we were knocking holes in the clouds. Now we’re just a little over two months away from doing it all again! We’ve already met with the city of Wilson and the Wilson Industrial Air Center and I can tell you all they are very excited about getting you guys back to put on the awesome show you have in the past. Wilson is without a doubt one of the best venues in the country to fly at. Add to that a 4500’ X 150” runway, large hanger for overnight storage, great camping facility right at the airport, shopping, hotels, restaurants and much more within 5 minutes of the airport and you have one great event! Better yet, it’s just 3 short miles off interstate I-95 !!!! Last year’s event saw over 130 pilots from all around and we’re looking to top that again this year.
● Flying times will be extended even more! Beginning at 7:00 AM and running until 7:30 PM. We just need to leave enough daylight for crews to re-open the runways and remove X’s. These hours should provide enough time for everyone to get in as much flying as their thumbs can handle!
We’re looking forward to seeing all of you guys again and hope to see many more new faces at this year’s event. If you haven’t had the chance to fly with us at First In Flight, mark your calendars and get on down the North Carolina for 5 days of fun! See you there.

OK, folks. Online registration and tent rental for the 2016 First in Flight event is now open!

ALL TENT REQUEST/ORDERS NEED TO BE SUBMITTED NOT LATER THAN MAY 15TH PLEASE!

For Hotel Information, just click on the NavAir link below. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a complete list along with web links to the hotel itself. There is also a second Hampton Inn located even closer to the airport that we'll get info posted on soon.

Where is Wilson, NC?

It couldn't be more centrally located on the Eastern seaboard! As the picture below shows, it's about right in the center of I-95 between Boston and Miami. And it's also not that far off of the main East-West US artery, I-40. So it's an easy drive from most major eastern cities. And there's no back road jaunt to get there since it's right along the Interstates!

Here's a pic showing a little more detail of where the airport is in reference to I-95. Also is a picture showing where hotels are. 3rd pic shows where just a few of the many restaurants are. All of which are within a 5 minute drive. Attached Thumbnails

As for the facility itself, you couldnt ask for a better place to fly! A 4500' X 150' runway, wide open space out front, long clear approaches, and a 75' wide pit row! Heres a couple of pic taken from the air of our 2011 event. Attached Thumbnails

Our Wilson Industrial Air Center event site gives a whole new meaning to the term "WFO".

And our 4500 x 150 foot main paved runway is smooth, flat, and wide.

The Wilson facility offers up a huge start up area, and plenty of room for pilot stations. Attached Thumbnails

Once you guys are done drilling holes in the clouds each day, Wilson provides a great place to store your pride and joy at night. Its located right beside the camping area, and we provide truck / trailer transport service for those who want to haul their jets rather than push it to the hanger. Attached Thumbnails

Larry, make sure you send in the paperwork for the JPO trophy so I can get you one. The CD is who has to submit it. See you soon.

You mean Nationally Known and Regionally Recognized Larry Lewis (as I've heard him be referred to)? No chance - I hear he is really hard to pin down...

By far, the best jet event on the East Coast ! I look forward to this event every year and this yeari no difference . I just have to figure out which jets out of my fleet to bring. There will also be some fairly new jet pilots attending from the Fayetteville area.

Larry,

Do you know what the schedule for getting in tent orders is going to be? The Richmond, VA gang wants to get theirs in as soon as you are ready!

Hello Larry,
We've had a bit of downtime (1-1/2 years) since Karen and I relocated to our home in this awesome state of South Carolina!
Got the new shop extension to the house done, and the Jets are ready to return to Wilson!
Our SAAB Draken, and the Hawk will be present.
Looking forward to seeing you guys.
Til then, take care, see ya soon.
Frank
