I need to post a picture, sorry, I'll get one. These actuators are motorized, and are more powerful than an Adams.
They are about the size of an Ace Standard. I'm in the process of making up a small board to allow these to be used with a digital proportional radio, like my GG version.

They will also work with a conventional pulse radio with the addition of a small driver board on the actuator, which I custom build for them. Although they will work with the Ace Pulse Commander receiver, the receiver itself needs a small modification to work with the actuator driver.

Right now, we are testing these for reliability and performance, but so far, all the feedback has been very good. I'm taking orders now in advance to get a large group order to get the price down, so let me know if you are interested, no deposit required. I'm probably only going to do a one time run of these, as the demand is fairly limited, so the larger the order, the lower the price will be. The same applies to my GG reproduction actuator, as I'm going to make one more run of those as well to get you guys the best price I can.

As an update to the original post:

The actuator is made by Tobe, and the electronics package I'm making for it will include a special rudder only recoder by Phil G. I have integrated the recoder with a driver that allow the use of several different voltages and one single voltage supply, or separate voltage supplies. The reason for this so you can use it with not only Tobe's actuator, but also original Adams and magnetic actuators.

Will the Tobe actuator work with any modern 2.4 GHZ transmitter on aileron channel with add-on board? Will add-on install be simple and not void warranty of transmitter? I'd be tempted to buy a modern 2.4Ghz single channel rudder-flapper equivalent to my ancient Ace Pulse Commander
system from the '60's. Wish somebody made Adams baby/baby twin actuators. Remember the wimpy Bentert actuators, how about "Grid Leaks" newsletter, Dick's Dream, single tube 3S4 receiver with Gem relay, Ahh yup!!

Yes, it's a plug in device, just like any servo, so no modifications are done to your transmitter or receiver, so it will not void your warranty. Works with the new 2.4 GHz radio systems, and older AM,FM, & PCM digital proportional radios as well.

For those of you who have purchased Phil G re-coder PICs for Pulse Proportional emulation, Crist has made and sent me some circuit boards which greatly simplify the task of wiring up the re-coder PIC to a H-Bridge driver board and servo plugs. This universal board will work for rudder only and galloping ghost, and allow you to use a variety of options as far as battery voltages for the actuator. The re-coder circuit with driver can be used with any original magnetic actuator (Adams style) or motorized actuator (Rand/Controlaire/Tobe) using the PC board as it has several options.

We designed the board so if you have Phil G galloping ghost PIC, it can be used with a rudder only actuator by adding the elevator servo plug.

Do your Galloping Ghost actuators have a recommended max weight or wingspan for the models they can control?

The GG-Tobe is intended to be an almost direct replacement for the old Rand and as such I would expect it to fit the same range of models, what flew with the Rand will fly as good with the GG-Tobe. One of my test benches weighs in at almost 2 lb. with a 50" wingspan.

These actuators typically were used in planes with engines under .29 cu. in. and for that size engine they should be fairly sloy flyers. The ideal engine size works out to be somewhere between .074 and .21. You saw many plane designed for Ghost in the .15 to .19 cu. in. range. An Andrews H-Ray, GiGi, Mambo, Rodent. Whiz-Kid, CG Skylane, Lil Tri-squire, Esquire, Headmaster are all good galloping ghost ships.
