Default 2 inch (50mm) dia rubber (not plastic) insert for an rc starter.

I have the TOC Terminator starter. It is geared.

It is very strong; It can start a 120cc inline twin gas engine.

But;

Mine was delivered with a very hard plastic cone; It slips on the spinner.

I tried a friends TOC Termiator; His was delivered with a rubber insert, and worked fine.

So;
I'm looking for a rubber insert with a 2 inch (50mm) outer dia.

Anyone knows where I can buy one? A link, please?

On most advertisements out there, the diameter isn't indicated. They don't want to sell any, it seems.

Have you gone back to the seller/distributer/manufacturer? Maybe the hard plastic was an error. In any event, you know from your friend's starter that the soft one is available, I have not measured my starter cones, but it seems that 2 inches dia is about right, maybe a standard?

My Magnum starter (which is also quite strong) inserts are approximately 1 1/4" in diameter so you can rule these out in your quest:

I imagine most standard inserts are that size. Good luck in your search.

Mine are standard also, likely the 1-1/4 inch cited above. Thanks for correcting my assumption. BTW the geared starter looks like the motor is a car starter. Anyone made their own from one of those?

W8ye,

I ordered a couple of those today.

What I'm afraid of, is that I receive stiff, hard plastic inserts, even though they say its rubber......

So, I was hoping for a link to someone selling 2 inch rubber inserts. Often, you can see on the picture that its actually rubber, you know......

On the TOC picture, they are shiny, like plastic....but you never know...

The starter itself is incredibly strong, and the gear is metal. No Belt involved.

I looked at the starters from Horizon, Tower, & Sullivan and found the dimensions of the inserts and none were 2".

That was my results too, w8ye.

Maybe I will have to buy some silicone / rubber moulding stuff, and make the insert myself.

Might be interesting.

This is what I use and like but the 3" red insert is from Sullivan and not a blue Miller one.

Runs 24V but has the same speed at the cone as a none geared Dynatron on 12V.

You cannot order anything from McMaster-Carr if you live in Europe......

Maybe metric sized rubber radiator hose would be the 2 inch od you need. Good luck

Sorry. I forgot your in Norway!

You might try an auto supply store. They might have radiator hoses the correct diameter.

By the way, do you watch RCGUTT on Utube? I love it.

I got the rubber cap in my mail today.

It is actually rubber, not plastic!!!

Very happy now.

The starter turns a ZDZ 90, or a Valach 120cc inline twin fourstroke with ease.
