Default Need a new Spektrum receiver

I have had good luck with the Spektrum AR 6210 in the past but unfortunately they are no longer available. What would be a good alternative without all the bells and whistles?

personally i love my dx4s and it has enough channels to do pretty much anything ground based short of intricate robotic applications and is really easy to use. Range is better than the range of my eyes

AR610 is the closest to a direct sub.

AR6600T is basically an AR6210 with telemetry integrated.

Thanks Andy. I know the AR610 does not have a satellite receiver. Do you think this is an issue?

The AR610 has an amplified antenna instead of a remote receiver. It really depends on the aircraft - a larger model you would want the remote receiver, a smaller one would be fine with just the amplified one.

In my planes I'm using an AR636 (no AS3X) with a remote receiver. That's gives the best of all worlds.

Andy, Most of the planes I fly have about 48" wingspan or less with the largest motors 60 size. Do you think the AR610 would be OK?

I use the AR636 with a remote in 40-size and larger planes.

the AR610 will be fine for airplanes under 48 inch. I have one in a avistar elite, and it works perfectly fine. Now, the ar660t doesn't come with a satelite, but I heard that you are better off using one for that rx. Is this true?

It's true it doesn't come with a satellite. None of our receivers do. Satellites are in outer space.

But many come with remote receivers. Just not this one.

It's also true that the AR6600T supports a remote receiver.

Whether or not you should be using one depends on the aircraft.

Haha, whatever, everyone calls it a satelite... Anyways, I am glad to see that spektrum have finaly made built in telemetry receivers. Now I just need to start using this telemetry.

I was sent 2 AR6600's by mistake which I promptly returned, but I checked them out first. They do come with satelites (remote receivers)

Thanks for that. I'm going to make sure they update the photo - usually photos show everything that comes in the package.

I would use an AR9020 or AR9030T. You may also consider a PowerSafe receiver.

Most that I have seen are people upgrading to higher Spektrum radios.

The type that supports two servo batteries.

AR9110 and AR12120

They're good for large scale planes where redundant power is required for safety.

Andy,
I have heard that the AR6600T does not work with analog servos. Is this true?

No it's a combination of a coax cable with the actual antenna just on the end. However I believe you can buy a new antenna if you can solder well enough to replace it on the rx board?.

No. If you have OLD analog servos they may not work, but most analogs are just fine. Most people that report problems are using particular Hitec servos.

Andy,
An excerpt from one of the reviews of the AR6600 on the Horizon web site states: "There are issues with non digital servos because you cannot run this Rx at 22ms due to software bug."
I don't know what this means, but it does concern me. I do want to get some of these receivers, but I want them to serve my purpose.

Steve
