are their any prop manufacturers that pre balances their props,,,and if there are how reliable is their balancing . I would tend to confirm the balance just for peace of mind, but just wondering if anyone knows of any such animal.

Some of the giant scale CF props come ready to fly. All brands of smaller props need to be balanced.

I checked about a dozen MA props from my drawer with a Top Flight balancer, and they are right on. I only rounded the edges so I would not get cut, and did nothing else. They were all less than 11 inches.

I would agree that the vast majority of our manufactured props are not actually balanced as a separate process during manufacture. That would just be too cost prohibitive, on some of the largest and most expensive yes but not the majority.

On the other hand anything to do with props: balancing, cutting from scratch, cutting from blanks or even designing and experimenting with them is just another wonderful part of the hobby that some may prefer. Its just like Some prefer just flying, Some just building, some just working engines.

Just for kicks sometime pick up a set of old time rubber plans an try carving the prop from a balsa block or precut blank. Very soothing as well as rewarding or not just a thought

I get the same from doing paint work after all the prep work is done. Something soothing about taping for the different colors. Applying Monokote is the same. Here is a pic of my 1/2 refinished pattern airplane.

I've been using the wood Master Airscrew wood props for quite a while and they are fine performers. I balance them as required with no problems. Some of them are now available balanced at the the factory. Dan.
