Well all I know is that you will need about 10 servos in the tail for some reason.

Spitfires makes great 3D planes. Especially with the ZDZ80/belt drive set-up. Go for it

I would install at least a 150 DA if it were me, as those there scale planes are a lot heaver than ya think. Bet it's closer to 30 pounds.

Joe, just throw em as much as the radio allows, if the hinges rip out, you've gone to far? :-)

I would say you need 3 or 4" of throw, seeing its a scale plane.

Heres what you need to do. First of all. Forget everything you've ever learned about flying scale.

2. Buy a plane thats capable of doing 3D
3 Over power it.
4 Buy hi torque servos, and 6v batteries.
5 Take a deep breath because it takes alot of guts to hang your new plane 12" from the ground. (remember the shaking knees?)
So to recap. You get to
1 buy a plane ( i know how much we all hate buying new planes)
2 Buy a radio (ditto)
3 buy an engine
4 Explore a whole new part of the hobby you so much enjoy.
Doesn't seem like fun to me

Thanks crash but I dont wanna waste my money on a 3D plane that I wont fly but to try this out. I want to do it with a scale bird

1 to show it can be done with any plane not just a aerobat (remember aerobatics were invented by warbirds)

2: because i just want to see what the big thrill of hovering in one spot over the runway is then i prob never do it again cause i will have had so much fun doing it

3: prove anyone can do it and see what the big deal of being able to do it is

A ZDZ should be able to hang a 25 pound plane, especially if you have a belt drive. Just set up your high rates for as much throw as you can get (45 degrees is great) and give it a shot. There are no secrets to hovering other than lots of throw and practice.
