Here's mine and it's getting closer to it's first flight. I chose to try the Seidel 7-70 Radial in this plane because it actually is quite light for a model this size. The extra weight difference between a G-62 and this engine allows me to get the C/G balanced without adding weight. Battery placement is all that was needed to get it dialed in

Looks REALLY NICE...
Makes my wish HK would have actually got there ass in gear and delievered those saydels...
Instead of taking my money and holding it for 5-months or greater....
Had to cancell my order and pick up a saito 5-cyl instead...
Plus it fits in my TF staggerwing!... and the Saydel didn't...
The saydel looks perfect for the 50cc round cowled planes...
What was the COST ON THe PLANE???

I got it from Inwood Models in the UK and it cost 480 pounds and the shipping was really expensive due to it's size. If I remember it was around 300. The retracts look like a pretty good retract. I haven't used mine yet but maybe Awood could tell us

Dear Alan
I see that you are flying your Dad's Corsair, in your normal spirited fashion.
Kevin, these are my friends I was talking about on an another thread.
I am sure they will post the CG position on here shortly.
Regards Phil G.

The CG in the instructions is spot on. This model has absolutely no flying vices and is very easy to fly. Open the throttle very slowly with no up elevator and the tail just rises to level as speed increases. The merest of back pressure has her airborne. Flaps or gear have no discernable effect on trim and certainly work! Stall is slow and she finally drops a wing very predictably. Recovery is instant. Spins are nice, and again, receovery is instant. With flaps/gear down, the landing attitude is absolutely scale. Just the smallest whiff of power gives the correct approach and she 'wheels' on rather than three point. I have not flown a nicer warbird than this.

Thanks for the info! Thanks great news. Spot on it is. I should have asked you about the control throws but that's really not an issue as much as C/G. Man I can't wait to get mine in the air. Do you guys have any video of your's yet? It would be great to see.
Cheers!

yes, but I think ASM will have some difficulty with there 1200$ (+) airplanes
TBM and there Zero for 1,100$ (which includes high quality retracks look better all the time..)

Hi Guys
I test ran my Seidel in my Corsair today and it's going to be so cool. With a 22-10 it's turning 6000 RPM and with a really rich needle. I'm going to try a 3 blade 22-10 or maybe bigger diameter. How much do these radials unload in the air?. It's better to over prop a bit than to over rev, to much RPM is harmful. I think the manual says 6000 is max.
My collector ring exhaust works great and it really muffles it down which wasn't the intention of building it but an extra feature. The sound is sweet!
I'm so used to the vibration of a single cylinder 4 stroke and when I started it up it suprised me how very smooth it runs all the way thru the full power range. I'm using a McDaniel's glo driver and it idles around 1000-900 RPM without any indication of flooding or loading up. It's going to be a nice set up for sure. I'll have to get some video of it running. I've never up loaded a video from a video camera. I'll try to figure it out tomorrow
It will be in the air very soon

Awood12345,
Great pix of your dad's bird....you may have mentioned it and I just missed it, but what engine is in this particular plane?
Do you think my ZDZ80 would fit alright? I fly at 4500 ft. and usually need a bit more power for decent performance.
Thanks,
Steve

50cc is plenty of power, I don't know what my dads using, I think its a chinese 50cc but one of the better ones. It'll torque roll and climb out on the 50cc so an 80cc will kill it! I've never flown at altitude but I can't imagine needing any more power and I am generally a demanding pilot.
One thing I must say is the undercarrage looks small but have been great in use and stands up fine.

I got mine already to go and it weighs 23 pounds and I'm going with the 22-12 3 blade from TBM and I got the spinner from TRU-TURN spinners. Because the Siedel has a 10mm shaft and a 10mm x 1mm thread Bob at TRU-TURN was very helpful. He really does back there products with the best support. These Siedels have changed the shaft design 2 or 3 times throughout it's production history and they finally figured it out and kept it simple with a standard single prop nut on the center shaft configuration. I'm ready to fly. Now it's weather and time permitting!

Hi All
I have this model and agree with most of the comments in this post, However I was gutted after damaging in the model last March, I have since been trying to purchase a port wing section its impossible the last promised delivery is now November some 8 months after ordering. I am so frustrated and feel my duty is to warn people what happens with their after sales service.
That said I hope you enjoy the video I as much as I enjoyed flying the Corsair

RE: has anyone flown the new 50cc size black horse corsair
I kinda figured product suport would be nil. I tried to get one half of the flap hinge because the kit had one to many two bladed fork flap hinge pieces. The total part count was correct but it needed equal blade pieces to fit between the two bladed fork pieces making up the complete hinge. I ended up making the piece and it works great. I think the only way to get parts is to buy another kit, Spendy but unfortunately the only way.
I did a leak down test on the retracts and I found the slide valve leaks around the hose fittings coming out of the valve body, I tried to fix it and decided to get a new valve so instead of flying I'm waiting for the valve to arrive. I should have bought it locally. Retracts are cool but air leaks really blow a big one.
Good luck rebuilding your!!
Great video! I can hardly wait to get mine in the air. Some time soon I hope.

Actually a really nice paint job and detailing can been achieved over the iron on covering and you save all the weight and time.

RE: has anyone flown the new 50cc size black horse corsair
I finally got to fly my Corsair and it went just perfect. The first take off was short and it squirrled around a little but was fine with the power of the Radial.
I added a couple of clicks of down trim and it flies like it's on rails. The first time turning around and doing a downwind pass down the runway was so sweet. It's not that loud but the Radial rumble is incredible.
I'm using a Carbon Fiber 22 X 12 3 blade from Troybuilt Models and statically it's turning about 3850 RPM but once in the air it unloads, I'm guessing, maybe 750 - 1000 RPM or more and it really pulls it thru the sky. I would not want to rev it up any faster. Most of the flight was around half throttle and stall turns make you look like you know what you're doing. Axial Rolls are great just like the real thing.
I was by myself so I have no video but it really needs to be video'd. You guys need to see this!
If you guys are still thinking about what engine should go in this plane, This is it, It is so cool!!!
Flaps function perfectly and setting it up for landing was very predictable, powering it in on it's final then throttling back and it will settle in like a champ. Sweet sweet landings.
The landing gear, I think are on the lite side, flying on grass which would have been better if the grass was shorter. It needed to be mowed. It would be nicer if they were stouter but they do the job fine.
I really like this plane! It really gets people looking!
Video following!

RE: has anyone flown the new 50cc size black horse corsair
I decided to make a carrier stand for it out of 3/4 PVC. It's better than using a cardboard box. It's tall enough that I can install the wings and test the retracts and flaps
