AXI 5330/F3A for 2x2 pattern plane
Hello all,
I want to get a plane to fly the F3A master sequences (P and F). I am planning to use the AXI 5330/F3A for my plane but I have no experience with large electric airplanes. I have flown for some time now the small electric foamys with no problem but after some reading at the forums I guess the larger electrics are more complicated.
I tried to find in the forums the right ESC, Battery, Prop setup for the AXI 5330/F3A but I found a lot of diferent setups so I am really confused. I hope you can share your experiences with this motor with me.
Questions:
1) What is the correct motor setup i should have for my plane.
2) Can this motor setup handle the master sequences in windy days
3) I have found that the AXI is 120 gr (aprox) heavier than other F3A motors, can I still get my plane under 5 Kg
4) how do i measure and how do i know if i am getting the right amp draw. (im flying at 8530 ft. above sea level)
I really hope you have the time to help me with this.
Thank you
Juan Pablo

RE: AXI 5330/F3A for 2x2 pattern plane
Juan,
I've flown the AXI 5330 this season in Intermediate pattern and find it very reliable and consistent. I am running a JETI Spin 99 ESC but other alternatives woud be a Castle Creations 85 or 110 ; Jeti 77 or Schultz (sorry don't know the specific designation) controllers. You will need 10S lipos with a capacity of at least 4500 mah-- the Duralite EVO 5350 FAI packs are IMO the best bet right now, but who knows what will be available by next spring. A 20 X 15 APC electric prop is a good starting point and will handle most wind. As for charging, the TP1010's are very popular, but I like the TME Extrema's....other options are also available. Balancers are also suggested. I like the Duralite V Balancers but many use the thunder power balancers, and others are also popular. Good luck and remember when flying electric to pull the power back as much as you can.

Thank you for your reply G.
Do you think that your plane is capable of flying the P and F FAI sequences with the AXI?
thanks

what is the flying weight of your planes?
what is the flying weight of your planes?
Before that, I had it in a Pac Patriot, a C.A. Eclipse, and a Focus 2.. All were under 11 lb..
The motor has unlimited power for all the classes.. You'll be happy with it..

Hey Juan,
I have liked my Axi 5330/FAI motor and it has been a consistent perfoprmer. Here is what I have used on my Black Magic V2...
-Castle Creations 85 HV ESC
-APC 20x15 prop (has good speed in the wind, but I use it all the time. It will still slow down if you pull back the throttle)
-Tanic 5000 mah (5s1p) and Vampower 4500 mah (5s1p) running 2 packs for a flight. I fly Masters and the 4500's do fine. A competition flight might be 3200 mah in no wind and 3600-3700 if it's pretty windy. This combo runs about 80 amps, but I have dialed it back to abpout 77 amps because I don't need that extra power at the top.
My concern for you, since you are flying at a high altitude, is that you may want the extra capacity. I assume that flying at high altitude requires you to use more battery, but I don't know that (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So, I would look at batteries more in the 5000 range. That being said, I love the weight and performance of my Vampower 4500 packs. My plane weighs about 10 lbs, 10 ounces with the Vampower packs verses 10 lbs, 14-15 ounces with my Tanics.
Good Luck,
Emory

The information really helps me a lot thank you.
I think I will use 5000 mah batteries to be sure.
and I have decided to use the Jeti spin 99 controler.
I just have to get the airframe now he he...

Hello everyone,
Some information sull'Axi 5330/F3A.
With the propeller that AXI proposes 20x13 what is the absorption? And for a program to F3A the new P09 what is the consumption of batteries?
Many thanks to all those who give me the information.
