New FlightPower EON F3A 5400 batteries
FlightPower is showing off some new F3A packs to replace the previous version. The new series are called EON and the matched F3A version are shown as 20C 5400's as compared to old version which were 17C 5350's. The new series is claiming greatly enhanced cycle life. The 5400's weigh 1 ounce more than the 5350's per pair. Price is the same and the new ones are 2mm longer, .2mm thinner, and 2.7mm taller. For me, that means a drop-in replacement. Check em out at http://www.flightpowerusa.com/.

Word has it that the new formulation will increase the number of life cycles by a lot, they are not saying it but seemingly its a lot more than the EVO.

Sounds and looks cool.. But after my horrible experience with the 5350's, I don't think I'll be tempted, which is a shame...
Livonia eh? I used to live in Brighton.. I miss the snow.. But I don't miss having a off season..

I understand that some folks who plan to use Tower as their FlightPower Eon F3A 5400 battery source have been waiting for Tower to list them as "Available" before placing an order. Be advised that the current Tower listing of "Back Order Only" means that Tower orders them from their supplier only after receiving a customer order. I don't know if Tower plans to stock the Eon F3A packs at some point, but the way to get them now is to place an order.

Certainly no sign of them here-within 30 minutes of FP UK.

I placed an order for two sets with Tower six weeks ago, and for the last four weeks they've been telling me that they will ship within a week, but I haven't received anything from them yet.
Does anyone know if the old EVO's are still available. Right now I can't find either the EVO's or the EON's anywhere.

RE: New FlightPower EON F3A 5400 batteries
Got this yesterday from my man in the UK:
Hi Alan,
"FlightPower now say the replacement EON-X F3A packs will be in stock mid-may.
Eon 28/33 and Lite will be completely replaced by Eon-X (Eon-X Lite,
Eon-X 30 and Eon-X F3A)
No price is indicated yet for trade or retail on the F3A packs, so I
cannot confirm pricing yet."

I guess Tower has a standing policy to tell it's customers that back orders are due within a week, regardless of the actual due date. Not a very customer friendly policy in my view. Does anyone know why there's such a long delay before retailers finally get stocked? It makes me a little concerned that maybe there's been some sort of manufacturing problem.

I have the same problem. Right now I'm choosing my prop size to keep my battery energy requirement under 3100 mah per flight. I'm also flying much too close because I can't go over 7 minutes before my packs give out on me.[:@]
I've had new Flightpower f3a EONs on back order from Tower since early March, and they still can't give me a delivery date. []

I talked to Great Planes today about the packs. They absolutely have no idea when the packs will be available. "Call to Order"</p>
Called, but no idea how long it takes to get it? Flightpower shouldn't have stick with GP. Well, TP sells to direct dealers & Horizon Hobby Distributor. Very easy to get. Since the change of how Flightpower went, really hard to get the new packs.</p>
GP is becoming 2 store Wal Mart, but at higher price.</p>
Has anyone of those sponsored pilots tried the packs?</p>

RE: New FlightPower EON F3A 5400 batteries
Well, I've had two sets of EON f3a 5400 mah batteries on back order with Tower since March, and now I've just received an email from them saying that my back order is being cancelled because the manufacturer is discontinuing the EON f3a 5400 mah battery set, and it will no longer be produced.</p>
Does anyone out there know what's going on here? First the EVO f3a 5300 mah set was discontinued, and now its successor is discontinued before it's even been brought to market.</p>
