Hi everyone,

I'm doing some research and wanted to ask the community if something like this already exists.

Are there any tools or platforms that let you describe an RC airplane in plain language (mission, size, flight style, etc.) and then generate the actual design workflow — airframe parameters, CAD files, build plans, parts list, and maybe even some form of flight validation/simulation?

I know there are CAD tools, calculators, and plenty of existing plans, but I'm specifically curious about an end-to-end custom design approach.

Have you come across anything similar?Talking

Thanks!

I am in the process of finishing a 1\4 scale SE5A by Valuplanes. This is a ww1 biplane and the first time I've ever built one. I have installed the wing wire cables that are essential for support and this also holds the wings on. This model has no locking pins that go through the wings to lock them into the carbon fiber rods so connection points are all done with cable. Since the cables have to be tightened when the struts are in they should be fairly taunt but due to the way they are connected ( cables are adjusted to approximate length then attatched ) to the attatchment points on the wing and fuse and there is very little room to attatch the small pin that locks the clevis in once reasonable tention has been made. It is doable but I feel there is a little too much slack in the cable. The hardware on the cable ends are adjustable, these screw in and out where the cable ends are attatched but due to the tiny mounting points its extremely difficult to line up the holes on the clevis and mounting points and if cable length is adjusted just a tiny bit off it won't fit. I understand that the cables don't need to be over tight but there has to be a better way than this. I have seen cable tentioners for regular cable with both left and right threads and all that is needed to tighten cable is to just turn the turbuckle. Is there any such hardware for rc aircraft? The cable I am using is 1\16 in diameter.

Hi Guys,

I am looking for someone with intimate knowledge of the internals of Lemon Receivers - and in particular how the antenna socket is soldered to the pcb. My RX's antenna became detached during one of my regular nose-dives into terra smashupa, and unfortunately, on this occasion, when the antenna escaped from the pcb it took with it the clip/socket which was soldered to the pcb

Looking at the pcb there appears to be three possible places where I could solder it back in place - but which one to choose? Or . . . perhaps all three possibilities need a soldered connection to the socket - but I can detect only one broken solder joint on the clip/socket itself

The three possible connections

If anyone has any info to pass-on I would be most grateful

Thanks for reading,

I have a Sterling S.E. 5A Balsawood bi-plane from the 1970s. (Kit A17-298) 22” wing span. I built it many years ago as a control line, and I would like to see if it can be converted to electric motor RC. I have flown plastic electric motor RC planes before, but this is my first attempt at converting a balsa wood plane to RC. One of the options in the plan is to build it as a gas engine RC plane, but all of the equipment references are very old. I'm looking for advice on what RC equipment I would need to convert this to RC Electric. That would include the controller, the receiver, the servos, and any other components I would need. It would appear to be a 2 servo installation as it only has a stabilizer and a rudder. I am not looking for high-end materials, as this is only a beginning experiment.
The charger is in discharge mode and reporting a current draw of 1.3A and a total discharge of 160mAh, while my external meter is reporting 0.62A and a total discharge of 77mAh. Why is my external meter reporting 1/2 the values? I am going to put my Fluke meter in line (I know that one is correct), I just haven’t had a chance to do it yet. But before I do that, is there some reason why the values should be different? The only thing I can think of is if it has something to do with the balance plug.

After flying glow and gas for over 30 years, I am moving into electric, but I have questions. I am converting my Phoenix Models Decathlon from a .46 to electric. My setup will be a Spektrum Avian 4250-800Kv motor with 6S battery, a 70-Amp ESC and 12x6 prop. I am still installing everything, so I have no idea how many amps the 12x6 prop will pull. My main question has to do with the ESC.

Can I put the ESC and the Battery where the fuel tank used to be? In that location, I don't think the ESC will have much, if any air flow and I am worried about it getting hot. If I put it somewhere else, I will have to extend the wires from the ESC to the motor.
