AFPD system lockups
I'm getting system lockups randomly when using AFPD 1.8.0.17. PC is a Dell Inspiron 9100, P4 HT 2.8 ghz, video is ATI 9700 with 64mb. OS is WinXP Home SP2 with all the latest updates. I have downloaded and installed the very latest firmware and drivers for all the hardware. AFPD may run fine for 30+ minutes then lock up the system (can't soft reboot), or do it right away. Only AFPD fails. Only AFPD running at time of failure. Tried both vertical sync on and off. Window mode (1024x768), texture high, texture compression. FPS ~200. Other 3D games run fine. Only AFPD fails.
Any suggestions to try? I've run out of ideas.

Be sure and go to the Dell site and look for the latest video driver. I know you said you got it, but double check. This solved my lock ups.

Locks up or goes into sleep mode? Check your screen saver/sleep mode settings. If your using the sim and not touching the keyboard then the computer takes a nap.
