Check out the Tamiya line. They have some inexpensive kits to get you started and the quality is much better than anything you could find at RS.

Dude just get the thing at Radio Shack if you really like it. The only question is, Do you really think you can still have fun with that thing after a year of running it? Yeah right, unless you're REALLY bored, that thing 'l be in your closet (toy chest?) in no time...

Save your money! Dont blow it on a toy from radioshack.
Youve already got 100 bucks, you can go ahead and get a cheaper "real" rc car such as the delphi, or maybe one of the mini-z's which even include "real" radio systems.
Or you can be smart and save up about $75 more and get a much better quality car such as the duratrax electric evader which cost about $170 for everything.

RE: A first rc car..
To be honest with you I think that you would just be throwing your money away by purchasing that RS car, boredom would come quickly. Now if you really want to get into this hobbie your gonna need to save more money and get a job that can support parts and maintance , not something that you wanted to hear but it is the truth ask anyone on this forum and I'm sure that they'll tell you that purchasing the car is just the begining , parts and maintance follow and that requires cash flow, that can be costly,RED

RE: A first rc car..
I recomend the x mod
I also live in Canada, Ontario though.
I bought an x mod in the states before they came to canada and payed more , but they are great fun
kinda proportional, but the upgrades and stuff on them make them fun in my mind. I have tons in mine and am planning to put more into it too.
I could sell it to you if you want because I rairly use it any longer, (I have the "real" rc cars they speak of)
