How much did you pay for it? I think it's pretty sweet. Those old cox motors were fun. And loud!!! Is she in running condition? Good job on finding that thing!!!!!

its from 1979 or 80 from what i checked and its not homemade. i got it from a friend who thaoght it was electric. he just sold it to me for $20cnd and i spent like 15 bucks getting some fuel and a new reed valve (that was hard to get) and a few other parts. i havent used it lately. for like a month. but im pretty sure its running ok. its LOUD and burns fuel fast. it has a 1.5 ounce tank and lasts like 5-7 minutes. BTW whats the average rpm for a small motor. cuz it runnging at about 30 000rpm

MeneR, you are right in your assessment of it not being homemade. That's basically how they looked when new.

very old thread, but I've just got my grubby hands on one of these, almost complete.

am trying to figure out the Maples throttle mechanism (looks like one hose recycles exhaust gas!), and this also has a sliding gate on the air intake.

If anyone knows how to set this up, gimme a holler

Cheers

Dave

I just got one too. Nearly the same width and length as my electric 1/12. Except for the body, front bumper and zip cord it is complete. New bodies look like they could be cut to fit with no problem. The chassis is pretty sticky. Any ideas on how to clean the old exhaust/fuel off of there. I'll post some pictures when I get them. Anyone have a copy of a manual they could e-mail? What sort of fuel is recommended? Anyone have a work around for the missing zip cord? Thanks

Funny yes but let's not complain. At least they used search.

Nice car by the way. I had a Cox .049 engine back in the mid 60's. It's an old, old design and I think that it's still being made and put in some line/trainer planes

Here's a picture of my Cox Nissan GTP. Fairly complete, missing body, front bumper, and zip cord (starter). Pretty dirty from spilled fuel and road grime. I'll work on cleaning it up and getting it ready for warmer weather to run it.

It looks like a standard 1/12th body will drop right on, same wheelbase and width as my AE RC12l3.

Anyone have a manual I can get a copy of? Know of a work around for the missing zip cord?
