Why do you love jets?

RE: Why do you love jets?
For me there was nothing to compare to flying a full scale jet fighter. After training in a T-33 I went to Advanced school to transition to the F-94C (1956). There were no dual trainers so we went to 10hrs of ground school and were told on our first solo to hold it on the deck to 475k after you got the wheels and flaps up. That gets your adrenaline going.
Years later I saw for the first time a model turbine running on a test stand. After hearing it and smelling it my reaction was “I have got have at least one of those in my life timeâ€, I now have two engines.

RE: Why do you love jets?
Because I can pull the g's...... without having to pull the g's.
Because I can do the manuvers, and see the manuvers I'm doing, without having the rest of the world swirl around me.
Because If I screw up..... I won't die.
Because I can do a banana pass and see the 3/4 banked money shot, which is not possible if I was in the actually in the plane.
Because I know flying a real plane is way..... less expensive than flying a model jet.
(Divide the total cost of your jet,not including fuel,by the number of flights.....
in most cases your still way over $100.00 a flight, lasting less than 10 minutes)
but its a glorious 10 minutes!!!

<div>Because I am a wanna be pilot with full scale licenses and a wife not wanting me to get served in a cockpit by some fine stewardess
Not being able to walk by a jet on the tare Mack without sniffing the butt
Dad flew the B-52 with 8 turbines , and I figure I should be able to handle one
Big butts forever

RE: Why do you love jets?
I do not fly RC jets.......However I have a question that has been bugging me for a while now. In this politically correct world I should just keep this to myself however I mean no malice.
I have been in Model Aviation very actively for the last 40 plus years. I have attended a few RC jet events. I always notice that the majority of guys that are involved in RC jets are black. It is not that way with any other segment of this hobby.
Once again, I would be asking this same question if the majority had red hair! Or if the majority all walked with a limp! It is just with my (limited?) exposure to RC jet events, most of the pilots are black. Has anyone else noticed that?
By the way.....The jets are really cool, and so are all of the pilots! (no matter what color they are)

RE: Why do you love jets?
I have been to a lot of jet events in the last 6 years - primarily in the western US - and I would say the opposite, I have only seen a very few jet pilots who are black.

That's an odd observation, and it's one that would make Archie Bunker you noticed. Welcome to the 1970's

Odd statement, I know a lot of jet guys, and realistically, maybe 2 dozen are of any colored skin, the rest are white guys, but really, why the hell does that matter? You must have attended different jet events than I've looked at pictures of.
