RE: BVM OPERATING CANOPY
Here's a video of how I did it on a BVM F-100F model...
http://www.people.vcu.edu/~rhklenke/canopy_long.MPG
If you look at the aft hinge plate, you can just see the plywood horn that I added to it to lift and lower the canopy. The lower attach point of the lift cylinder is attached to a standoff on the fixed portion of the hinge plate. That way, when you unscrew the hinge plate, the entire canopy comes off as a unit, canopy, hinge and lift cylinder. You can see the Robart "quick disconnects" I put in the lift cylinder air lines so I can completely remove it.
There are hooks under the canopy rails that go into slots in the canopy "sill" on the fuselage. Just forward of the front canopy hoop inside the fuselage you can see the locking cylinders. These are operated with the lift cylinder with a sequencer.
More details are in this thread:

BTW, you can see that the hooks on the canopy face forward, which is scale, but its actually easier to do and lock more securely if you make the hooks face aft. That way, when the locks close, they tend to try and push the canopy forward, up against the forward hoop, instead of pushing it aft, possibly making a gap between the fuselage hoop and the canopy hoop.

RE: BVM OPERATING CANOPY
Its not a BVM but a yellow F16 I did a canopy on. I just used the servo slow function in my radio and 2 servos. One servo to open and close and the other with a hook to latch it. They run off the same channel and was pretty easy to do. I am really glad I spent the extra time on it because it makes the model.

RE: BVM OPERATING CANOPY
Hello:
I open my F-18 canopy, but I used another system for block, one servo and two links that entry in the windscreen. I put video and photos:

Regads from Spain.

Thanks Bob,
This is great info on how to do this, the only question is did you use bv's air cylinders or some other manufaturers cylinders. Also how did you attach the two locking cylinders to the inner brass square tubing.
Thanks Bob,

Yes, I did use BVM cylinders for the canopy. one inch for the locks and I think it was a 2" for the lift. The ends of the locking cylinders were simply bolted to the square tubing.
