RE: BOBCAT 51' EDF vs BOBCAT 51' JETCAT P20 SPEED TEST
And the winner is....nobody!I believe is a tie!
The aircrafts are the same with almost the same drag maybe a little more in edf due to the large volume of fan.Of course the edf has more power but the one with the P20 has the great advantage of less weight !
The measurements ,with a full tank in P20 ,immediately after take-off was 99 miles to the edf and 98 in p20. and as the fuel decreasing the one with the P20 the difference was 2 mile/hour faster the P20.Μinor differences.
I will continue the test with different conditions because the measurements were made with wind 5 Beaufort. The weather was not our ally in this test.
The conclusions so far are yours...

RE: BOBCAT 51' EDF vs BOBCAT 51' JETCAT P20 SPEED TEST
Gents i have flown both versions and my EDF version is clearly faster has more vertical but the p20 is way more fun ? i built the p20 version for an aged friend over 70 as his Habu was too small.
Mine has a het motor and fan installed in a tamjets nacelle on 8s at 3300 ish watts .The p20 flies longer and has a faster turnaround between flights and is a little lighter and sounds /smells better ,your edf set up is lacking something for it to perform so badly,
cheers Euan.

did you put an intake lip on the ducted fan?
[/quote]
Unfortunately nο.. for the simple reason that we didn't have it in our hands in the day of the test.
Now the ducted fan has the intake lip and we 're gonna test them again as the τhe wind is with our side this time!
