Best F-18 ARF
I am curious as to people's favorite pick for an F-18 ARF. I have included manufacturers I am somewhat familiar with, but if you want me to add one (that is common), just let me know. It is not intended to exclude any manufacturer, I am just not extremely familiar with the warbird turnines.
I am not concerned with which model F-18. Just looking for favorite overall in terms of ease of building, flying, landing, and MOST IMPORTANTLY..... quality!
Please feel free to add your comments as to why you picked what you did.

RE: Best F-18 ARF
I have the Skymaster F-18 E model and it is so far down the list on what I'm building, it might be a couple of years before I get to it.
I would sell it for $700 bucks if I didn't have to ship it.
I don't have any other 18's to compare it too, but it's not shotty.

RE: Best F-18 ARF
You need to add Jet legend and Yellow aircraft. Also, there are the F18 Hornet and the F18 F-E Super hornets. Big difference. I think you may want to consider having two polls, one for Hornets and one for super Hornets...That will give you the most accurate poll...

RE: Best F-18 ARF
I'm with Ehab on this one. Super hornets fly differently than non super hornets.
Yellow only offers non super hornets (are they even painted?, Can you call a nonpainted jet an ARF?),
Tam only offers a super hornet (F-18F, only),
Skymaster offers super and non super hornets (F-18F, F-18E, F-18C),
Feibao offers the same thing as skymaster,
JetLegend only offers a non super hornet (F-18C)
Tam has the best looking hornet, in terms of bang for your buck, Jetlegend wins by far. Again, non super hornets are more forgiving on landings than super hornets.

RE: Best F-18 ARF
I know Yellow is a GREAT company, but their F-18's are kits (as far as I have seen). I know they offer their 15's in ARF's, but I haven't seen their large hornet in an ARF.
I have added Jet Legend. Just to be fair, the counts when I added Jet Legend were Tamjets - 15, Skymaster - 7, and Fei Bao - 5.

RE: Best F-18 ARF
Sean,
No doubt the model we discussed previously is the king of the mountain, but at 9 G's, it's not fair to the other manufacturers to use that one. There is no doubt Yellow make some great high quality kits, but you and I have discussed they need to get more ARFs out there.
PS For what it's worth to anyone reading this, Sean has been one of the most helpful factory reps I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Very knowledgable on his product.

Hi
I have the Feibao F18F, that I believe it is the same airframe as the Tamjets. To compare it with others, I should build and fly all of them
This was my first jet, as an ARF form, but then again, if you want something really done good, do it yourself....next one will be a kit.

Check out the nose, inlet ducting and the height. I attach few photos for you too see the different.
Also Bryce Watson did pretty nice scale job with our wheels and ordinance.
I do understand to have good model assemble. You must do it yourself. How can anyone trust factory assemble ARF ready to fly? Factory workers are not modeler. A lot things they don't do right. Watch out for something fail. Take your time check every single glue join and parts assemble.

RE: Best F-18 ARF
Hi,
Whose model is the best looking is debateable, but that's what polls are for. I'm not sure which ARF tam is talking about as far as factory workers blah blah blah, but our latest-generation pre-built jets (especially the built-to-order big ARF) are built RIGHT. Of course, and expert modeler building by hand is going to to it better most of the time, but those types of modelers don't typically go for ARFs anyway. This isn't a mass-produced ARF, it's a hand-built masterpiece
Also, I thought Fei Bao manufactured the tam hornet? Or was it Jet legend?

Sorry,
I forgot to answer your question. Yes, it's a 6-9 month turnaround. It's shorter or longer depending on how close to the shipping cycle you order. These are custom built-to-order, so you can specify how you want it--single or twin, etc. Also, you can supply your own markings and documentation for custom schemes, too. If you order the gear, etc. at the same time, they'll install it for the same price. And these guys won't build dihedral into the wings for you like....ummm.....some other builders!!
