Default JetCat P-80 wet start issue

I have this post in the Jet Cat forum. I thought I would drop it here to so more people who may have had this issue will see this post.

I have a P-80 that has been converted to Kero start and so far 5 of the 6 starts have been wet. I am not sure what the problem could be but I am sure it needs to be resolved.

I have set the ECU to Kero Start also.

Please let me know the information you need from the ECU and I will get it.

Thanks
Scott

Wet start where flames shoot out the back of the turbine. Yes I fly after it starts up and all is well, but I have been told that wet starts are very bad for the life of the turbine. The battery I am using is the Duralite 3800 mah - ECU - 2 cell Li-MN - 7.4 volt.

Thanks
Scott

Bob Wilcox can check the settings on your ecu but i would try lowering the unaccel 2 setting by one or two clicks. It sounds like you are getting a little to much fuel during ramp up.

Hi Scott,

Not sure of the nature of the flames you are seeing, with kero start it is perfectly normal to see a few inches of flame coming from out of the top of the nozzle (near the ignitor) and it is typically yellow flame, very low temperature and causes no ill affect to the turbine.

Hope that helps,

These are at least four foot long flames. I have a fecet and a four foot section of stove pipe to protect the fuse. The flames are only when it is starting up and are yellow/blue.

Thanks
Scott

There is a user adjustable start up ramp explained in the manual. Check this value. Reduce if necessary.

Dont know if it is the same on the kero version....

But my friend had the gas start version, and found that fuel was leaking through the fuel pump, and the fuel solonoid valve when he was re-fueling the tanks.

I spoke with JetCat last night and they walked me through setting the unaccel 2 setting. I hopefully will try again this weekend and see what happens. I have a shutoff valve before the pump so hopefully during fueling that would not happen.

Thanks for all your help.
Scott
