RE: Landing Craft Tank
WOW thanks herrmill. Look like it would be over 8 foot long and over 2 foot wide in 1/16th. Great stuff and able to take 5 tanks or just me. This is something I am going to have a good think on [:-]

You may find either a hull or plans or information on who may be producing what you're looking for from this supplier, "Loyal Hanna Dockyards". They are in New York, uSA, but have a web site and ship world wide. Here's an e-mail address to contact them. his name is Don; [email protected] Let me know what you find out. I hope this helps.

Here's a build for an LCM. I know it's not an LCT, but it might give you a few ideas.

Oz:
I have 300 dpi scans of the LCM-3 (D-Day 50' footers) That model was later modded with a 6' extension in the middle to make the LCM-6 version (56' total length) for use in the Pacific. Scale-wise, thats 37.5" for the -3 & 42" for the -6 types.
Now unless you're a glutton for punishment, those are the two models you'll wanna aim for in 1/16 scale, as the next model up is over 100' long, which would be over 6' long at scale.
I have a saw inbound so I'll soon me cutting short kits (frames & keel only, you supply hull planking, decking & details) from these plans, supplying the plans on DVD with 'em. I hope to have some pics up by Xmas, if all goes well.
If you wanna DIY 100%, I can email the plans, just gimme a PM w/ your e-mail, ok?

RE: Landing Craft Tank
I like the look of the LCT6 more than the LCM6 but it would need a trailer to take it to the water then a LCM6 is a good size to work with. Might have to see what I can come up with from the Vietnam era.

In 'Nam, they converted a whole whack of the LCM-6's into a variety of craft: armored gun monitors, high-pressure water-cannon boats, even SEAL Team delivery boats, supplies boats, and some w/ chopper pads welded over the cargo well!
http://www.ppvolunteers.org/pdf_file...avy_Part_3.pdf
AH... here it is... http://www.rivervet.com/boats.htm (if you go down to the 'Designs' section, it has diagrams and specs for all the conversions. ~sweet~
Here';s another site I found while looking for the RiverVet one: http://www.ppvolunteers.org/pdf_file...avy_Part_3.pdf
I can also send ya the LCM plan set I have if ya like. All you'd need to do to swap the plans to a LCM-6 is stretch it by 4.5" (6' in 1/16 scale) making your boat 42" long.

RE: Landing Craft Tank
OK got a start on the "Landing Craft Utility Special". [&:]
I picked out all the bits I liked and left off the bits I didn't like and made it to fit into the back of my car.
Sorry to all of the rivet counters it has a welded hull [:-]

Very nice. This is by no means taking away from your work, but wouldnt it have been easier and more cost effective to make it out of balsa and then maybe fiberglass it, for strength and waterproofing? I have never attempted something like this but have wanted to and was just curious. looking for an easier approach, I don't think I have the patience to cut all that plastic, maybe it will give me a reason to buy one of those 9" band saws. Anyway it looks great.
