Disregard that answer. I cant remember the name of the plane but it was flown and desinged by Alexander Lippisch way before the war started.

The only other one I know of in that family but came out much later is the MIG 31 foxhound, almost the same specs as the 25 but with a beefier airframe.

But besides a few avionic improvements,...

Didn't matter, No missle made at the time could catch the SR-71 regardless of how fast the launch plane was.

The Mig 25 could reach Mach 3.2 but only in short bursts, in a few documented cases...

Are you referring to the U2 that was shot down by Gary Powers that stopped the overflight? Or refferring to a Russian plane that ended it?

After the SR-71 was developed, it flew unchallenged...

that is the Odysseus. Over 300 ft wingspan, flys above 55000 and stays aloft for 5 years on solar power.

Your questions match exactly to that? Yet it is not a warbird.

you got it Jonny, the HO-229 was the first plane to implement stealth technology by the flying wing design, it was able to reduce radar cross section, as well as being made of wood and the paint...
