difference in degree / shore / color is how soft the compound of the foam is.

the higher the number, the harder the compound.
the softer the number, the softer the compound.

for carpet racing, i used to use, 42shore 26mm wide tyres on the front, and 36shore and 30mm wide on the rear.
thanks alot luke. foams are new to me, so I had no idea what the numbers meant.[&:]

Those foam tires will last longer than rubber tires on asphalt?
Yes and No. The parking lot I use for Practicing has a lot of rocks so the foams chunk pretty easily. So when I'm bashing I use the stock rubbers. Its the only time I use them so they last me a while. I burnt the tires off(2sets rubber) the TT01 I had just running a CO27 and 58spur 23pinion. So far the TA05 slicks have held up better.

Ahh. I think I've just chewed up my spur gear. I was testing some changes just doing straight runs in the car park at work during lunch. I was running fine until It started making this chunk chunk noise.. stopped and checked. I can turn the spur one way almost all the way until a point, it stops... then I turn it almost all the way the other way and it jams at about the same place. Looks like a new one is in order.

Lesson 1:
Don't run it in a carpark with lots of small rocks. I was afraid of the belts, but the spur got bitten...

Thank goodness it wasn't the diff though. phew.

Off to the LHS to get some more parts... at least this part is fun.

just wondering what you guys do for basic maintenence, what do you check ect?

after a race, I strip the the wheels and axles clean the grease of the axles and replace with new grease, (the old grease usually has carpet fluff and crap on it, check belts for wear & tension, and basically clean the car, check toe ins are correctand that the wireing is ok and that no screws have come loose.

just wondering what you guys do, and do you have set times for changing stuff like suspension oil ect, or do you do that on a regular basis, ie after every racing session?

My LHS recomended that I replace the Tamiya gears with Kawada. I'll be doing that after my next run. He managed to help me get the original spur gear back online, but it wont last forever.

I really love that place. (the LHS that is) I could just about live there

no question about it.

if you are racing, you need the TRF's.

they are smoother and far superior.

plus they look cool inside (the same color as the M-03R chassis)

you will not be disappointed with them.

rcmart have them quite cheap at the moment.

what oil do you use?

i would also recommend getting some different springs, Tamiya on-road tuned hard ones.

Had my first race today , came 4th out of 10 on my first race even though my drive belt slid off the center pulley and was not turning. btw how do you fix that problem? on my TA-05 on the center pully there is the 2 cog things but nothing stopping them from sliding. mine just slide around sometimes. Also my ESC cable was rubbing against the rear tyres which resulted in the cord being cut clean through the middle, so that cut out my last 2 races.
