looks like you have a front one way diff, didn't it come with outdrives? looks like you need an outdrive and a dogbone. to get the outdrive for a one way I guess you have to buy a whole new one way..

I know it has a one way, or at least that is what the guy said he installed when I bought it.

Everything was there and fine, I don't know how I lost it but I know it used to be in there. So I need a whole new one way? Ideas on where I need to go to get one?

rcmart likely has them; you can get a new front one way and a set of dogbones, you'll have a spare outdrive and a new center one way bearing.

then you can get a pair of dogbones, or a set of tamiya CVD's (better) to replace the front bones; probably less likely to pop/break that way.

Tamiya themselves confirm that their CVD's (read a few posts back for part number) fit the 'RA

But, I can tell you myself that some aftermarket CVD's by other companies do not, example; GPM titanium turnbuckles intended for the TT01 do not.

After years of searching for "the" on road basher i finally took the plunge and purchased a df-03ra.
This has to be the best road going machine on the market that does not require a billiard table smooth surface to run.

I cant believe it took me this long to find one and have some real fun out on the street.

It is amazing how much fun this car is, isn't it. not only is it fun, but darn tough too. I'm surprised they aren't more popular.

If/When word gets out that you can run one of these things on normal roads and paths without scrapping the body/chassis and its a huge amount of fun the popularity will increase. The ability to run a car (as opposed to a truggy/sc/buggy) out front is huge, thank goodness for tamiya taking care of regular rc bashers not just racers.

I really wish they made upgrade sealed gear diffs for it. Something strong, in which you can use a variety of oil viscosities to adjust slip.

So I finally got around to take apart my car and see exactly what had been damaged.

As I suspected it was the front right shaft (which i have now replaced with the original parts)

Also, the rear diff is completely shattered. Do I have any options here? I couldn't really find a new fitting part that rcmart have in stock, but I found something called Spur Gear Set which looks like it has the plastic part that I need (I have all the other parts still including the 10 balls). Can someone please shed some light on what I need? Thanks Anyway, I'm guessing this damage came from having the slipper clutch too tight...

Same thing happened to 3 of my yeah racing swing shafts. I ordered the tamiya cvd's hopefully they do better. I also ordered a df-03 front diff. joint for the rear as it is all steel and my yeah racing diff. joints are deformed where the shaft sits in. Hoping tamiya parts are better quality.

The EZRUN series is a good bet, cheap, waterproof and because they are sensorless, should have insane power, if you get one with the hardcase alloy body, good idea as it harsly heatsup and i can touch it without burning my hand right after driving.

This question is directed to Casper06 or anyone that has waterproofed their own ESC..

You told me before that you sprayed CorrosionX on your ESC. Surprisingly enough on my way to the farthest hobby shop in town there was a boat shop that had it in stock!

I bought the CorrosionX in the red can. The green can was the heavy duty version, but it did not say if it was for electrical applications. Only the red can did so I purchased that one.

Is this the right one to buy and how do I waterproof an ESC with this? I'm putting in a Sidewinder now that the XL5 esc is toast.

Thanks bud you are the greatest helper on this thread.

Uh i'm the one who brought up waterproofing am I not? Yes you bought the right kind.

You open the esc case to reveal the electronics and then you generously douse everything with the oil. let it drip off and re-assemble. That's all there is to it. (you can also de-case the esc and dip the entire board in the stuff)

Again, this will be another tool in prevention but it's not 100% permanent protectio; it is best used in conjunction with other methods such as shielding.

Do some of these come with a dust shield and others don't? I don't have mine yet...
As far as I know the only ones that come with the dust cover are both the Mitsubishi Evos. The Celica comes with a cockpit, the '07 and '08 Imprezas come with lights (the Evo X comes with the cover AND lights), and the Lancia comes with none of the above [&o]. As frustrating as it is, I am beggining to think that this is a marketing strategy on Tamiya's part based on the popularity of the body styles...
i se that you say that the Evo X comes whit cover and lights? ,i cant find anything about that in the adds, please can you confirm this? i am realy wanting an DF03RA now

There's plenty of room inside the Subaru body set. The TRF511 should fit but your concern would be how well it matches the sid thes of the DF-03Ra chassis. If you cannot find a DF-03 shell or Dark Impact/Durga you can always just use a milk jug and cut it to see fit.

The shell protects against big rocks but small grits and sand will still get inside and also into your diffs and bearings as well even if they are sealed or shielded. I still run the DF-03 Dark Impact shell on my Subaru WRC DF-03Ra to act as a splash/mud guard which helps the internals from gathering mud inside and weighing down the car.

But if you are primarily on-road with a little sand racing you don't really need a shell.

I know the Evo X comes with chrome light inserts. Can't remember if it comes with the actual LED lights or if it comes with a dust cover. You might want to research it a little more...the info is definitely out there.
