There should be one in front and one behind, they are metal now.

Here you go: https://www.horizonhobby.com/steel-st-washer%3Am-0-yzbbccffhh-az-at-sai120s37

PS, They are tricky to install.

Dave, not those cam shim washers. The little teflon disc I'm referring to is solid with no hole in it. It's the same OD as the cam pin and looks like a teflon piston pin retainer except much smaller, of course. It must be cosmetic to make the front of the cam box look flush?

It is not a listed part for the fa180a.

Pete has been checking out the Saito numbers, here is what he wrote.

"Good to see lonnie post those saito fa115 and (fa125 yuk) figures, he's right on the money and it will be interesting to see dave's figures, he tunes them well but always swear black and blue that he hates apc props so it's unlikely we will get a fair comparison, unless lonnie ships the apc props to dave and the skinflint pays the frieght. That might not be a good idea on second thoughts because dave is pretty long in the tooth nowadays sittin on the front porch rocking chair snoring the next door neighbours awake.

ps could you ask acdc not to write long post's please, my right index fingertip is getting RSI from all the downward scrolling

Cheers mate"

Pete can relax I just bought an APC 15 x 6, all comparisons are fair as long as you explain/list the criteria.

I never know what prop is best to use and just wing it. Hmm that one looks good on the plane, and use it kind of winging it. I would like to put the right prop on the 72 that is on the SSE so that I can get more slow speed performance. I don't want it to go fast, but want to be able to pull out quickly at HOA maneuvers like a Harrier. I have a 13 x 6 or 8 APC on it now.

My airplanes aren't built for speed so I stick with wood. It is easier on the digits when you screw up.

APC 14x4W or Xoar 14x4 is the ticket. Should rev to 9800 richened for flight. Crisper throttle response with the lighter weight Xoar. And don't worry about the rpms, a 4 pitch prop won't unload in the air at all. Top speed will be approx 30 mph.

I had a 62 on my SSE and it was lacking a bit. Planned on upgrading to a 72, bought the 72 and rekitted the SSE before I had a chance to mount the engine. I have the new SSE about half built.

14 wont work on the SSE, the 13 barely clears as it is. Tail level and I have about 2 fingers of room between tip and table, and broke my Xoar when the tail lifted on the run up bench, never got a chance to see how it did with a lighter prop.

Taller Carbon Fiber LG will fix that problem right quick.

Search for this: LGZX300#26CC-CF

It would muck up the performance though sticking the wheel weight out further. I like how it flies as it is.

Lonnie, weight wise, it looks that comparing the 115 to the 125 is much like comparing the 100 to the 115.
I checked the weights of all 3 engines (less mufflers) and here is what I found>

from my Saito 100 manual and Horizon's site,
the 115 weighs 35 grams more than the 100,
the 125 weighs 35 grams more than the 115.

it's interesting how that came out

Drop her pants and she'll fly better.

The SSE was never designed for 3D per se but will hover and harrier if built light enough. With CF LG, no wheel pants and lightweight foam wheels mine did ok. I think the fa72 with a 14x4 prop will fly it with authority.

My 1.25 with the CHI mounted, the 1.25 muffler is nearly twice as large as the other two mufflers.

Yeah, that 125 muffler is a monster, you would think it would be quieter being so big, but its the loudest one I have. I had to add counter weight for it too, laterally it would roll towards the muffler side.

Wow 1 pound 9 ounces, the Magnum 91 is 1 pound 6 ounces.

Over 1 1/2 lbs. is a lot of muffler, I wonder if there is a light weight substitute or rotating the engine 90 degrees to put the muffler on the bottom would work a little better?

Is the cam support shaft the correct one? Thanks

The muffler does not weigh 1.5 pounds, it weighs about 3 oz, the Turbo Header weighs about half that.

I'm not sure, that's why I asked about the little teflon pad on the end of the cam pin.

So the cam pin should be long enough to be flush with the front and rear of the cam housing on a 180a? Mine is not long enough to be flush at both ends. The groove near the front of the cam pin lines up with the set screw when the pin is flush with the rear of the housing. At that point the front of the pin is recessed approx .060", thats where the little tefon pad was used.

Oh man, I thought for sure I ordered a 100 count bag 1/8" pin hinges. It was a 3/32 bonus bag of 50 pins with the hinge drill guide. Bugger all.
