Yes, my fathead 120 had that same dished piston. The fathead doesn't make quite the power of a 120 special but runs cooler (larger fins), has less vibration (heavier) and handles very nicely (7.9:1 compression). If a fella wanted to get more ponies from a fathead it would likely do no harm to throw 50% nitro at it. Nice engines, I enjoyed running mine. The true fuel metering carb with midrange adjustment is the sweetest thing Saito ever produced imo. The FA65 carb runs a close second.
Interesting note: The fathead was produced with 2 different jugs; a side exhaust and a rear exhaust, mine was the rear exhaust version as found on the 120S, 150 and 180 engines.

guess what finally got an update! Supposedly the tank was delivered, will have to check when I get home.
Spent a few hours and knocked out the first halves of the molds for my friend.

Don't beat yourself up, you're not the first to do that. My friend Bob has built many cedar canoes throughout his lifetime but when he switched from one epoxy brand to another he did the same thing. The new epoxy brand came with one of those 5:1 pump systems.

The plastic shops at work have had proportioning pumps on the epoxy stations since long before I came there. Pretty much automatic.
When first introduced to glass fiber and other composite work, I went wild making things.
After all those years I now try to avoid having anything to do with fiber anything.

Looks like things are going to be slow to ship from HH. I ordered a replacement piston and gasket set for my FG14 Tuesday and have not gotten a shipping notice yet. I'm itching to get the FG14 into my 46-55 size H9 P51 and give it a whirl. Should be able to fly it all day for a dollar in fuel. Sweeeet

For Christmas I treated myself to a pre-owned Hanger 9 AT-6 Texan 60 ARF with a very low time Saito FA125 mounted up front. Once I swap out the engine with an FG21, patch up the hogged out cowl, lower the fuel tank an inch, replace the crappy retracts and struts, redo the flexy control rods and fix the stab that's glued in all wonkey it should be pretty nice. Wait.......what the *#@% was I thinking?
Well, it was really cheap

My super boo boo of the day. Cracked in flight. Removed to repair. Attempted to braze. Burned a hole through it before the filler rod flowed. Original inlet collar was staked to the parent ring. Haven't completely lost the position into the ring by witness, but the ring flange is compromised. It will have to be reattached in position. Ok Have at it. I am ready for the bricks to fly.lol

Well, THANKFULLY the very first layer had solidified to the point it was no longer tacky and was flexible. I was able to peel the mess away from the plugs, and have a little touching up to do where the divider had made some marks. Everything else was a gooey mess. Epoxy wasted, lesson learned. You would think that after making 6 molds, several cowls, I would know that is it 1 pump hardener to 1 pump resin. What the hell was I thinking? $30 Gone just like that. At least I got the release agents done correctly, and it is a real shame too, the inside was perfectly smooth, no bubble or air pockets, my best one yet.

Relax, only $30. A screw up at work on a carbon fiber floor pan would be more like $15,000.
And the money isn't the big concern when you have a deadline to meet

Lonnie, you know what WW11 fighter would be nice ? the VQ Hellcat, a Saito 72 or 82 would make it a monster.
