CARF Mephisto Build thread

Dantley,
This plane is at my place now to build for a mate of mine. Mine is due in a month or so and I have to admit I'm in two minds about the satin finish. The plane looks fantastic - it's got real presence in this scheme and the satin is really cool but the gloss version would be easier to protect and look after. Mine is coming in satin but I think the gloss will look just as good and be a bit easier to live with.
Seeing the videos and having been having a lot of fun with my J10 for a while now, I can't wait to get mine done. I've decided just to bite the bullet and go with the 300 straight away on mine.

Everyone...It's the whole point. We timed assembly and strip down times and it was under 5 minutes. Because the gear is in the centre section, and the flap servos are in the centre section too, the wings are one servo lead and a carf thumb screw accessed through the main wheel well.
The rear fuselage is just three M4 screws and the servo lead connections. I have my elevator leads separate (my prefered set up) and the rudder and two vector servos on a Powerbox 3 way connector. Others use 2 x MPX doubles and a 3 way, so three leads. I keep the flying tails on the rear fuse, I just remove the fin.
The fin is a single front screw.
Dave
It really goes together quickly.

Hopefully Tim should be flying his with the Behotec 220 this week so we should find out. I was planning on going 300 when mine gets here but a big military order with Jetcat means they don't have any available for quite a while So might run a 220 first.

If you want to park it in the hover, no. There is no margin. I don’t see many people wanting to hover the Mephisto in a J10 way, so the 220 is perfect. RF and FJ should provide a good indication of the various power plants being used.

Contact CARF, they cut them in house.
Dave
Tim test flew his this morning. He only had the first no gyro flight and one while we dialed that in. No hovering yet, but no at 1:1 the pull out would be very slow. High Alpha passes and then push to pull out yes.
2 peeps of trim and he was hands off, rolled as axial as mine, big loops and some knife edge. Rudder power as mine is immense, did 180 degrees of a knife edge loop in 60m dia!! Landing roll out as mine is 20m.
