Thanks for the compliments Guys.

Jnjackson, Don't worry, your birds are next on the board. Because, I know it won't be THAT long before the YS needs a new home![sm=lol.gif]

The front piece on the top fus section is too narrow by 1/8".

Here is a picture showing what I mean.

The fix is easy enough. You take two pieces of 1/16" balsa (from the extra stock supplied in the kit) and cut them to approximate size as shown here.

BTW: I am using the extra 1/16" balsa supplied in the kit to show you don't have to go buy anything to fix this problem. All the material you need is in the kit.

Here the 1/16" stock has been glued to each side of the "nose piece" and it is awaiting final cutting and sanding to shape.

Once the piece is shaped correctly, just glue it to the upper fus section.

I must admit......The horizontal stab and elevator are the hardest build of the "stick built" structures on the airplane. There are actually a few angle cuts which have to be made.

Here is the complete horizontal stab and elevator. Complete with tristock at the hinge lines.

Total building time for this assembly from the time the plans were put on the board until finish sanding..........30 minutes. (P.S. I build slow. Just ask Jnjackson or Paul!)

I'm business travelling this next week, so I have to wait until I get back to get on the covering.

So far the kit has been a breeze. There's a few minor areas to correct, but Paul is getting that done and the next batch of kits will be even better.

I'll be posting pictures as I get the covering done.

Here is the problem with the predrilled holes for the landing gear blocks that Paul was mentioning. The fix is simple. Fill the back hole with some dowel rod. Wick in a little thin CA and then redrill the hole in it's proper location.

This is also to be corrected on future kits.

Thanks for catching those issues with the landing gear block and the front fuse piece.... Those pieces will be fixed on the next batch of kits....

latch,
you have boned up a burito faster than I could finish up that partically built outlaw, that I got off of Gator.

I should have build my sledge, that I gave to Paul to build, instead of messing w/ the outlaw.

I have worked on my outlaw everynight for the past 1 1/2 weeks, for atleast 2 hrs per night, and I am still not ready to cover.

I should have build me another profile. I probably could have boned me up atleast 2 profiles by now.

I've finally gotten back from Madison, WI.

Covering begins tomorrow night.

Keep in mind.....I cover rrreeeeaaaalllll ssssllllooooowww!!!!!!

BTW: The only reason covering begins tomorrow night and not tonight is that I flew today. So, therefore, I fix tonight![sm=lol.gif]

(That's really not the problem. One of the light fixtures died and I'm on top of a ladder trying not to kill myself, burn down the house, or both!)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOO
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW,

Not just rrreeeeaaaalllll ssssllllooooowww!!!!!!

Just kiddin, Don't kill yourself or burn the house down, I know there are at least 14 kits at your house waiting to be built. Dead men don't build well, and ashes don't CA together to good either.

BTW... Trip finished his sledge and wouldn't let me OR Hal touch it! I can believe the "me" part but I couldn't figure why he wouldn't let Hal fly it???

He did let me fly it... he he he

Sounds like project Burrito is going well, Harry. Can't wait to see it finished! (BTW, did you remember to use at least one stick from THE Knife? The spirit must live on!!!)

Jnjacksn,

I can completely understand WHY Trip wouldn't let you fly his brand new Sledge. (Particularly if he didn't want to be rebuilding it after![sm=lol.gif])

I'd let Hal fly it though just to get an accurate assesment of what the aircraft is capable of. But, then everyone would know it is just me who can't fly and not the airplane!

Matlock,

The Knife will rise again! Keep watching for an update!

I didn't get much done tonight. The best laid plans of men can be completely undone by their children's school activities.

The leading edge of the horizontal stab needs to be sanded down. Here is a picture of mine. You just need to sand it down until it will fit correctly on the top piece of the fus.

Here is the Rudder and Elevator covered and ready to go in Aluminum Monocote. I'm using Aluminum and Transparent Blue Monocote for the covering scheme.

The inspiration for the covering scheme is in the background!

This scheme will be a stretch for me, so we will see what happens.

Took another bite out of the covering job tonight.

Here is a picture of the horizontal stab, and both ailerons.

The top of the ailerons is transparent blue and the bottom is aluminum.
