Mikey, I just looked at the picture of the cows again. When I looked last night, at a quick glance, it looked to me that a bull was riding a sow, so to speak. I looked again this evening and it looks like I saw that picture wrong last night[X(] I need to get my glasses checked. Sorry about that!
Dave Yep, the "honey do" is never ending. Only problem is I've reached a slow time of year in my business and I'm about caught up on all the odds and ends. I think now she is just inventing work just to keep me out of her hair!
Jay Keep me on your PM list also. I sent one back to ya.
I got the Align ESC installed this afternoon and did a short hover in the basement to make sure it's working. It's a bit odd in that the E-flite ESC would allow the motor to begin to spool up as soon as the throttle stick moved. The Align one has me moving the throttle a bit before the motor starts to spin. I'm not sure why. I do still seem to have full power. I should get out tomorrow morning for some flying. It's supposed to be 32 degrees and little wind, just my kind of day!
Later All!
Jim
Thank a Vet for the freedom you are enjoying today.
Thanks to all of you who have served.[sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Glad my eyes are fine Mikey. I don't have prescription coverage and buying new glasses would have cut into my heli addiction!
So I had some dumb thumbs this morning out at the field. [] Those of you who fly planks can appreciate this. I was about 4 minutes into a battery, doing all my usual things when I pulled up into a loop from rather low. I'd done the same thing on the last pass and I was very comfortable with it. Well for some reason this time, as I start to come over the top of the loop thought I was back flying fixed wing, lowered the throttle (as you should with fixed wing on the down side of a loop) and put it nose first into the ground. I was adding negative pitch! DOH! I don't know exactly WHY I did that. Maybe I just lost focus or was too comfortable and getting a little lax I suppose. This one will be my most expensive repair yet because aside from the usual stuff, I lost the canopy and the Super Skids! I also cracked the elevator servo horn right in half. The battery sits right next to it and it must have shifted some as it hit. The servo is operating fine but I may replace the gears just to be safe.
I think all my thoughts of getting an mCX just went into the ground[:@]
Hope alll of you are having a great week.

Jim~i have had guys tell me it's easier to learn helis first before planes because of what you did you have habits that are normal when flying the planks and not good when flying helis.sorry about your crash but you'll never do that again. mikey

Tim,
Sounds like you certainly have a game plan, and if it works out you'll be in MCX heaven before Christmas. I know you've watched some of the videos of the MXC and it's one of the first E-Flites I truly enjoy. Have a blast with it. And of course, get some pictures and give us an update.[sm=thumbup.gif]
Mickey,
HOLY COW! They like to have a good time too.![X(] Yeap, weather bad here, in Indianapolis, windy, cold and raining to boot. Just did a major PM on my Lama V4 to pass the time.
Jay,
I watched the SouthPark election videos, what a hoot. However, I didn't wet myself. Still, work is SLOOOOOOW.
Jim,
I totally understand, I did the planks for a lot of years. Pretty good at it, I may add. First year out, I won a trophy for second place in a local competition, YES I'm bragging.
Yikes! Bad Mishap. Boils down to a "Brain Phart". We've all been there, and unfortunately it can cost ya some big bucks.
Check out my elevator horn on my HBK2, happened about a year ago. The elevator servo/horn AWAYS seem to take the most abuse.
Don't know why, but they do. Hmmmm. Nothing fancy going on here, just puttering. Wind to bad for anything outside.
Grit and bear(beer), the MCX will come.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
although this thread has become more of a community of brothership, it is STILL a BLADE CP forum.
Any questions/thoughts about the BLADE CP are welcome and can be answered by anyone of the active members.
For what it's worth the Blade CP/Pro is a great LEARNING Heli.
I learned how to REBUILD the Heli after every crash!
here's a pic of my ORIGINAL FLEET from 2 years ago....

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
So, the MCX is awaiting my arrival to pick it up and take it away from it's life of safety and security. Planning on tomorrow afternoon. The LHS is 20miles one way so I do Costco and grocery at the same time.
The repair job is on a..................wait for it...............................a cp. The one heli I have experience working on is what I have to work on. I would have loved to see this wreck. One of the blades is missing past the grip. And the blade grip is installed inverted[X(][X(][X(]. I'll shoot a couple of pic's prior to putting it back together.

Here's the two CPP's I have currently also. They sit ready for flight, but instead collect dust... I still carry a soft spot for the CPP's merely because that was what got me "hooked" into the hobby. My first heli was the CPP, and a gift from my father... We went into a nearby LHS to pick up a RC car, that I was supposed to pick out, and before we walked into the store, there was a worker of the LHS that was hovering a CPP outside testing it for a customer... Well... Long story short is I came out of the LHS with a CPP... LMAO... I'll never forget in my mind the first time I sat in amazement watching that guy hover tha CPP... Never... Knowing what I know now however, the CPP's offer simple set-up's and understanding, but also offer a handful in flight compared to any of your belt-driven type heli's that are out there, and parts for those heli's are generally cheaper also, but much more is involved... A good starter heli in my opinion is a Blade 400 RTF package that you can find for about $400.00 or so...
Happy flying...

Dave ~
Here is a post I put in another thread regarding the MCX... Its about the flybar... So come on Chief... One more mod isn't gonna kill ya.......
Alright.... Try this one out for kicks... As I've been doing it for over a week now, and haven't told anybody but now I'll tell you... You know how the flybar attaches to the top head, and clicks into place right ? You also see how its in there pretty tight to eh ? Well, I removed the top-screw and tossed it in the can, and even shaved a bit off the top head until it just about meets the top of the flybar top-piece... The MCX doesn't need it at all... I put a good 20 flights into her doing this, and all is fine... You'll see... Tracking stays good also. Its in there still tight as ever, since its braced into position anyway by the little locking stub and hole...
The benefit : A tad more energy that one motor gains as it now has less to crank-over... You know how us weenies are... Every stray dog-hair counts... Also, during your normal crashes, the flybar stays locked into place... But during the hard crashes, the flybar will usually unlock, and eject from the rotor-head assembly putting hopefully less stress then on the flybar, but mainly the weak inner-shaft that would take the blow the most during a crash from the upper-blades striking along with the flybar at the same time, if that makes sense to ya....
The disadvantages : Those days that I enjoyed most with "Tapping the ceiling" as you saw in one of my indoor videos are over my friend... As shaving the top-portion of the head down some puts the flybar itself closer in relation to the ceiling, and makes it more interesting... Pics below, if they help any... Also... On your blade tracking for the uppers... Do the normal balancing and applying tiny pieces of tape if need be, but also try switching the flybar ball-link onto the otherside, and trying the other ball that you would attach it on the OTHER blade... Mine was off quite a bit a few times before... I switched sides, and then perfect tracking... Try it....

Here is the before picture, like you know of the inner-shaft and the top rotor housing before I removed the screw and chopped the top...

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
to all the BROS . GREETINGS
this is my last post, until I return from overseas, on the SUNDAY 23rd. Turns out that the office still has 5 days of PTO for me to use. So, I got a ticket and going Houston/Buenos Aires, tomorrow at 9pm, returning at 6am Sunday 23rd. 10 1/2 hour flight, won't be good for my swollen legs, hope I survive a bit.
I HAVE PACKED THE mCX in its original case, plus 6 LiPos (small) to give them all to my "TEENAGE" BUDDY in Buenos Aires. We used to do Model Planes as teen agers. He was a Great U/C STUNT flier.
and specializes in RC small Gliders. He's 73 and admitted to slowing down a bit, BUT HE WILL ENJOY FLYING THE mCX I am SURE. this friendship has LASTED, unchanged for longer than 60 years ! then in 1954 we ACTUALLY FLEW R/C for the very first time.....I had gone to NYC to AMERICAN HOBBY CENTER, purchased a SINGLE CHANNEL ESCAPEMENT, and we were launched into RC doing our CABIN FREE FLIGHTS with moving rudders, VERY successful. RUDDER is of paramount importance on planes, so I'm supposed to have an "educated" left hand, for the helis. HA !
These TOYS are VERY EXPENSIVE in SouthAmerica and way out of his reach. MERRY ( SUMMER ! ) XMAS to my old bud.
y'all BE GOOD
and i will write soon as come back.......MAYBE from ARGENTINA, it seems my daughter's 'puter is working good.

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Have fun in BA Rick. Your buddy and I will be getting MCX's at the same time. I only have a half dozen or so batteries for mine though.
The CP is done except for rotor balancing and checking tracking. Of course no battery is in the box so I'll use one of my lipos. The manual indicates that short term use is ok. Any thoughts? I doubt I'll even try for a hover as it's really dark and foggy out.
Also, so that I have my terminolgy correct, the cp is a fixed swash plate, right? How would putting one of these rotorheads affect learning to fly? Easier?
Tim

I love the pics Mikey!
Rick, Have a great trip! Relax and enjoy every moment
Jeff, awesome mods[8D] You are getting every bit out of that little heli.
To All viewers: This still is a Blade CP, CP Pro, CP+ and I bet CP Pro 2 "Advise thread" It's not necessarily dedicated to the Blade CP but it has many seasoned Blade flyers ready for questions when ever advise is needed.
I love my 2 Blades and fly them frequently. Good piece to beat for the money.
If you can fly a Blade CP you can fly anything
Blessings to All!

I just got a email from IU(where my wife graduated) and they just posted this. The interview is about a year old and the picture of me and my wife is over 2 years old when I was stationed in Maryland.
