No-Name Rig?...
What a Joke THAT is......
NAMES get Established when Folks take a chance on a New Product that turns out to be Good!
Cornel OBVIOUSLY was not around 10-15 years ago when Traxxas first entered the Scene.......
Everyone Scorned these new Traxxas Cars and said they were not up to Par with the Real Hobby Grade RC's.....
10 years later, Traxxas Rules the Market and the Revo is one of the Most Innovative RC's on the Market.....

It needs all the alloy upgrades, as does every RC vehicle...
But is being fully supported right from the start.
Perhaps it has to be someone higher up the food chain that gets it first or posts the first reviews...
I still fully support and recommend the HSP and now have quite an investment in it.
Great budget 'super' crawler.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Watch all the screws for coming loose.
Check the wheel nuts...
And, watch those axles gear cases for cracks.
Top crawler... just need to be careful and keep checking the above.
Mine now has 4 wheel steer and 2.4ghz receiver.
Hope you enjoy.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Hello Everyone
I just received my new HSP crawler and its freakin the shiznt. It crawls over dogs, up walls, over curbs, up chairs its allot of fun i can't wait to take it out to the rocks. But i need to upgrade some weak points and then it will be ready for the real world of rock crawling. This is my 6th truck and its worth its weight in gold. lol No i'm kidding but it is a great price for an RTR just make sure you don't pay more than $299.99 there are some online auction stores that are claiming its worth over $1000 and trying to get hundreds more than its worth with out the proper hop ups. i hope this is helpful for anyone wanting to buy one. thanks

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
SF,
It is a really good crawler, especially for the money.
Just keep checking all the screws and fasteners, and get some spare gearbox cases, and re-enforce them.
Glad you like it.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Well i took the crawler into the dirt world and found out the hard way that the electronics are pretty worthless when your not indoors. lol.. But i still had fun and it crawled up and over almost everything i tried. Also the shocks performance need help, there starting to stiffen up. But for the money its a really nice truck that has allot of articulation and potential to be a great 1/8 scale crawler?
Can anyone recommend a good shock setup and speed control.?
thanks and" Keep On Krawlin" KOK

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
I have had no problems with the electronics, but a friend burned out his ESC.
There are a few replacements to choose from, enroute 2 or the Novak Rooster crawler ESC, or Tekin FX-R ESC.
As for the shocks, I just softened mine, to allow easier articulation.

Hi drewpyfz6,
Have you managed to sort your rear steering out yet?

Yes, we have had rear wheel steering for a few weeks now, and it makes all the difference.
Have noticed the batteries are not lasting as long, now there is an extra servo to power...
I added an new multi channel Receiver, so have it switchable on the TX.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
I have my HSP on order, can you recommend anywhere for spare parts?
Also just wondered if you'd used a different TX to be able to switch the steering etc? Sorry for all the questions as you can probaly tell I'm new to this. Believe it or not I'm more used to r/c heli's and real life Jeeps lol.
Thanks again.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Hi,
I bought mine from http://www.thegoodiesmartrc.co.uk/
They also have spares and hopup parts.
A friend bought the alloy lower suspension links, and they are really nice.
Yes, I am using a different TX, its a 2.4 (DX7) and AR6100 RX - you will be familiar with these then - lol
Be careful of the rear axle gearbox casing breaking, and check every single screw, some were loose on mine.
Hope you enjoy it.
Have changed out the complete axles on mine now - kept stripping a gear.
These are Gmade axles.

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Yes I use a JR 9X 11 with Spektrum DM9 conversion. It's mode 2 so throttle on the left.
I was wondering if I bought something like an AR6100 RX I could get away with using my current TX. Only problem is the left stick doesn't have the "spring loading" to centre the stick, any advice?
Lol used to checking for loose screws, nuts & bolts as heli's have a passion for shaking themselves apart! lol Nyloc nuts, loctite and the odd dab of super-glue come in very handy
What are the advantages to the Gmade axles? Did you get them from http://www.thegoodiesmartrc.co.uk/?
Thanks again.
HR.

(I am using the AR6100 because I had a spare from unfinished heli project)
A friend turned the mechanism (DX5) around so that RUDD was up and down, then used that for throttle.

Just dont look at the price until they are bought, and you need the suspension arms too.
I hope the advantage will be, that they dont break every week....

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Ok, so the HSP became a Hybrid.
And what a hybrid - fantastic.
But having a set of axles hanging around, ideas soon start to come.
"HSP HBv2"
Check these out...

RE: HSP 1/8th Scale Crawler
Hi Savage and all
You can use a lipo 2s 7.4v but you must have a low voltage detector for protect your lipo.
The modified configuration of my crawler HSP: 2 ESC, 2 motors integy 55t, 2 steering servo, 2 batteries (one lipo 2s 7.4v for esc / motors and one 3s 11.1 with 1 ubec of 6V / 3A for receiver and servos. Radio stick 2.4ghz 6ch (without brand from Kong Kong), mixing of 2esc with DIG Front and Rear, radio mode 1 : left stick : front and Rear ESC & rear steering / right stick: Rear ESC & Front steering. When using throtleCut switch ON, the left stick command only the front ESC/motor and the brake is apllied on the rear motor. When using only right stick,(left stick stay at middle position) brake is applied on front motor and only rear motor run.
a last word : I use the new pinion ref:98012 with metal insert.
as say drewpyfz6 : Having fun is the best part of life...
cordially.

Drew, what upgrades have you ordered for your HSP?

Got sick of replacing the shredded gears.
Still got standard motors and esc.
Very good now...
