New DLE 20-RA
Received last week, i've tested the new DLE.
868g. all included.
New RCEXL A02 #6 ignition with spark plug cap angled at 120º
Now i'm testing the engine on a bench to finish the break-in and to take rpm numbers.
Sweet running, easy adjust, nice look, and good power. Easy fit on WWII warbirds with no cowl cutting !!!
WELL DONE, DLE .....
I really love this little engine, and i'm impressed with current DLE production. On single cylinders, we have now available two options on 20cc class, side/rear, the 30cc side and 35 rear, the 55 side/rear, the 85 side, the 60 twin, the 111, 170, the 222 four, ..... What else ?
Soon we will see more DLE creations.... and some amazing surprises ..
Best regards

I've been flying my old 80" Hanger 9 PT-19 with the new DLE 20 rear exhaust for 3 weeks now. Performance has been outstanding! It started and ran great with no adjustments at all. Using a 17x6 Valley View wood prop the plane flies much better than with the 1.20 4-stroke glow engine I used in it before. I couldn't be happier with this new engine! Another good feature is with the rear exhaust the engine will work in narrow cowled planes like the PT-19, Tiger Moth, Ryan STA, lots of warbirds etc.
I'm ordering another one for my H-9 Tiger Moth this week.

Are the exhaust ports the same on the DLE20RA and DLE35RA?
I know the muffler outlets are not the same and there is no TBM silencer option for the 20RA.
I had the idea of trying a 35RA muffler with TBM silencers on the 20RA. If it fits, In theory it should be quieter with similar back pressure to the stock muffler.

Now that i knew where to look. I took the muffler off and watched the ring as i rocked the prop and can see (and hear) the ring move in the lands and squeegee out some oil as it does so.
The noise is not so pronounced when the engine is hand-held. Adding the muffler and the metal test stand amplified it quite a bit.
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

You can buy a new cylinder head for $64.95 from Tower, or have someone install a helicoil to repair the cylinder head.
Sounds like you over torqued the plug and damaged the threads. I would not be very hopeful of the warranty covering it;-(
