Default SAVAGE SS 4.6 KIT?

I was browsing the market place and came across this new kit. Maybe it was already mentioned in a post here, but they made quite a few modifications to this one..[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=68965[/link]

You should be eligible for the engine exchange programme.
Expect to pay alot of extra for the new engine mind.

Too much power for the Euro's.

This was Bush's call, it was either no 4.6 or we put you on the axis of evil.

Thank Tony for us.

Euros can make much more power with smaller engines. Just compare a Porsche with any 4 or 5 Lt Pontiac or other. Same as comparing a Collari engine with any other engine.

LoL Billythekid.....are you sure? Pontiac vs. porsche... your compairing apples and watermelons.. Well I will tell you this, $30k pontiac vs $30k porsche? good luck finding a porsche that is around 30k thats not used, first off. Second I have 520hp 01 ws6 PONTIAC trans am supercharged, and the modification costed me around $6500 just for the blower and minor accessories... Now figure this, $36k pontiac after mods (mine) vs. all the porches = pontiac more bang for the buck not to mention that this car does low 11's on the quarter. Inconclusion, Euro motors are not really that much better, they may have spent more time on finer tuning its motor and its expensive emblems on the cars, but the price is much higher, duh... Its like comparing an expensive .28 with the Wasp 28, its obivios that the expensive motor would be better but the wasp has potiential if I spent the extra 100-200 bucks on tuning and modifying. I hope Im not flamming anyone here, but its the taboo that your believing in euro motors. 100 pound of poo will not fit in 50lb bag, forget what others say.

Now back to the topic.... New savage owners, DONT be dissapointed with the recent purchase! The s-25 has plenty of power for the savage. If it makes you feel a little bit better upgrade the motor once you get the feel for things to a .28. The other "up grades that hpi mentions, you probably already did the mods, or you dont bash enough.. and hpi is just now starting to release....They should have been more on the balls of things but hey maybe its marketing..It might be slightly more to do all the mods yourself, but with smart shopping for expensive hobby is not a bad idea on its own unless you just won the lottery. Consider this, 250 for ss kit w/o motor and pipe + 169 for wasp .28 (same displacement as Hpi's .28 motor, enfact they claim the same amout of power as well), + spider mod, and bowties and new rims are not too costly if you pay attention to ebay. I think it would be cheaper to do the 3 speed mod on s-25, and get fairly good peformance. I would much rather build my own savage with aftermarket parts, like my Trans Am.. I have wasp 28 in my savage, I have the 4 gear spider mod, mp servo saver, motor saver filter, 40 series mambos with mashers, with tuned pipe.... and other things as well... So Whats the difference from my savage to the New .28 ss kit they just realeased? Nothing really..., Tires? Not much of bowtie fan anyways for what I do with my truck. Well if you have read up to this point, give yourself a pat on the back because I now have headache for typing soo much..
Disclaimer...... Results may vary from noob to noob....These are just opinions of Savage 04, so dont trip!

It IS the same motor "The heart of the Savage SS 4.6 is a completely new 4.6cc (.28 cubic inch) engine that pumps out 2.9 horsepower for a top speed of 44 mph"

Reverse is an available optional part for the new kit.

Domestic engines are very very behind import engines, if you want to really compare brands compare engines of similar displacement, and stock against stock and you will see even Hyundai's engines are more advanced then any domestics.....with that being said the LS-1 and its derivitives is the finest production engine to ever grace a GM vehicle......but its also 5.7 litres and up, but lets compare a Pontiac V-6 with a import V-6 and the domestic motor looks more akin to a anvil next to a nice import engine.........but now Ford has a new prototype V-10 with 6 litres of displacement and it makes 600hp and 500ft/lbs at peak RPM of 7500rpm, but no pushrods on this detroit iron, its a true DOHC design.....once domestic companies trash the pushrod designs then i will buy a nice domestic till then i will drive import sports cars(even if they wont beat a LS-1)........though i do love the LS-1, but its unfortunately very very outdated.......

back to the svage .28 44 mph thats it???? why is the mammoths 24.7 motor producing more speed it cant all be gearing

SUPERTIB, where have you been???? Ford's line of "Triton" Engines are all 90 degree V's, they have aluminum heads and are single overhead cams. Not only that, the have a distributorless ignition system (DIS) and comes in 4 versions. 4.2L V-6, 5.4L V-8, 6.8L V-10, and 4.6L V-8, all of which have been around since 1997!!!! GM on the other hand just recently came out with what they like to call "The small block II" which is a 6.0L V-8, finally DIS (a slightly modified version of what Ford uses, BTW), but still a pushrod engine and was released late 2001. Don't even jet me started on Dodge! I know this is not the place for this discussion but I just like to make my voice heard. I hope I haven't angered anyone

LS1 were the sh** !! Still are!!! They take nitros well because of the alum heads and the Lt1 were prob better for blowers but I have no dissapointments here with my car. Its funny, im the only asian guy with American muscle. Heres a pic of my 01 ta procharged, with hpi rs4 3 ss with .18os sittin on it. When I drive rs43, I almost feel like driving the real one..

i have a feeling that the 2.5 hp that the new engine clames is very off prolly more around 2. altho hpi motors are good, they tend to overrate them.

SAVAGE04, mad props to all American Muscle car owners, tuners, builders, whether white, black, green or purple.[&:][:@][:'(]

Also the LS1's take turbos or superchargers well because of the lower compression ratios. So you're nothing special. Have you seen the Ford F-150 Lightining? (Supercharged 5.4L V-8). And Nitros is for people who don't know how to make REAL Horsepower!

the new HPI engine is apparently a SH-28, if thats the case it will be closer to 3hp, or better.........on Savage ecntral they are saying its a LRP 28 which is a SH 28.....which is monster powerhouse

as for Ford engines yes i realise that Ford has a more modern design but look at what they put the DOHC motors into, with exception of the SVT vehicles they have nothing to offer....and a LS1 is way better then some ancient 4 bolt main 350....the old 350's are OK but nothing special...a LS-1 on the other hand is amzing.......you cant even compare the two for power potential, as well carbs suck compared to fuel injection, dont even get me started as i have done soo many carbed engines and now i am a full efi guy.......my next step is a standalone ecu for my car as my mods have gone beyond the stock ecu

/end Disinformation

This is SOOO not true. The SH/LRPs are NOT 8 PORT ENGINES. And with a change like that, there are GOING TO BE more than just sleeve differences, the runners in the casting/block will HAVE to be different too....

Just alone here is enough to argue against this.

i only read they were rebadged LRP 28's.....too bad they aren't, as HPI's Force motors are the worst engines out there right now...complete and total dogs.......anyways its what was posted on Savage central AS I SAID IN MY POST but if its wrong oh well......if they have remade the hyper 8 port as a 28 that would suck
