Current Best .45 Size Profile
For those that have seen several of the new generation of profiles - what do you consider to be the best deal out there. Here are my criteria: pre-assembled one piece wing, full 3D capability, high quality monokote or ultracoat covering, excellent parts fit.\
thanks.
thanks.

Well, with that criteria, and adding that it's actually available now....I'd have to say Accel Kat 40. But it's kinda an opinion thing, and my opinion is slightly skewed

The production Pitts is covered in Monokote. If you would like a closer look at assembly, the manual is online at the Accel site. It recently was updated to include a new method of installing the aileron linkages, which is the cause of it's delay.
I like my Accel Katana GS 40 just fine. It is a winner for sure. And dhooks is right, they are in stock. I had the original Katana P ARF, and liked it too. The new GS plane is about 90% original, with a few design changes.

Gee, is the whole world an Accel Test Pilot. How do I sign up.
I really like that profile bipe and think that is what I'm going for if I determine my YS63 will give it full 3D capability. A little concerned because it is rated up to an 80 4s.

dhooks,
Is the Accel Pitts S2C .40 ARF bipe covered in ultracoat/monokote? Also would you comment on its quality of fit and construction.

One thing to remember is a biplane has to wings to mount instead of one.....which means extra care needs to be taken in assembly.
Is this your first 3D plane?

Splais if you are willing to wait a little while you can always grab one of these. I reckon the Yak will keep you occupied for years to come. I still can't get enough of mine and it teaches me some new tricks every day. Awesome little plane. The Katana is definitely a good bet as well if OMP are selling them. Just wanted to show you some more options.
Here is my little Yak video. I'm no Quiqui I'm afraid but it's small and shows that I am enjoying my bird.

Those are great planes as well ( no pun ) And I know for a fact that the ppl OMP purchases these particular ARFs from make some jam up planes. Its always good to buy from the best!
He did ask about what was currently in stock though
If he wants to wait to purchase we can look at the EF edge along with a few more that should be in stock soon.

But seriously the Extreme flight is also a good suggestion if time is not an issue.

Yes I am a fully capable 3D pilot. I fly giant scale mostly now but my profile is my lets go out and get crazy plane. I have an original Katana ARF, but it is getting worn out if you know what I mean and it was down a little on quality. I don't want to wait, I need something now. I did see the OMP adds, but the way these things go, who knows when they will actually be for delivery; besides I have never seen a bipe profile, it will freak out everyone at our field. but , as I stated it must take my YS63 and be fully 3D capable. And all one piece, no asembly at the field required: just glow and go.[>:]

The 82 jerks the plane straight up, and I think that the 63 is real close to it in power. I'd post a video showing it coming out of a tail touch with the power, but i'm sure it will get deleted.
The 63 will be fine.
Seems like Spacey needs get a job with OMP. I have seen those planes, and they look good. They look good in peices, sitting on display, but the Kat is a proven ARF. Proven for a couple of runs now.
The Accel Bipe is new, and will have to prove itself too. It's a fun lovin' kinda plane. If you want serious 3D capability, go with the Accel Kat, or sit back and twiddle your thumbs a while, and the new Yak is sure to do the trick.

RE: Current Best .45 Size Profile
No need for a PM, just plain simple truth. The Kat 40 is superior, in my opinion, to the Pitts for serious 3D. Others might not agree, but that's how I feel. In general, bipes are harder to 3D for most pilots. You might have the skills to make up the difference, I do not. Maybe after a few dozen flights, I'll change my mind. Dave flew one of our Pitts planes, and the vid shows that he can really fly it well. My flying style is best suited by the Kat.
With that said, the Pitts does draw a crowd, in the air or on the ground. People don't see many hardcore bipes. Few will ever see a profile bipe. And in the air, it does some wicked things that make it seem like it's coming apart. No, nothing wrong with the Pitts.
First run or last run doesn't matter, it's the relationship between the pilot and plane. I have a harder time doing 3D with a bipe. I've had two Sigs and three Goldbergs. I love Bipes. My opinion is that the best bang for the 3D profile budget is a Kat 40, considering your 63 is waiting. If you had a 91, I'd say that anyone that flies large scale should look to the Kat 70. That is a whole 'nother ball game then. It could truly serve as a giant scale freestyle practice plane. It is very precise and very agile too. It flies big.
My comment was that the OMP arfs have to be proven, once they hit the market. In fairness, I added that the Pitts is in the same boat. Make sense now?

I just hate decisions like this. I do need the small one because this is my "throw it in the back of the truck, no hassle, low cost, fun plane". Flying the big stuff is a hoot, not to be surpassed; but sometimes you just need to relax and have fun.

Splais, I have the YS 63 on my Kat 40 and I think you'll be impressed. I have no doubt the 63 will pull anything that's only a half a pound heavier as well. The second run Kats are tough as well. I landed mine in a tree and didn't put a mark on it. I'll post a couple of pic's to show you.
