Alan, Since they are out of production I would suspect that they have gone off the net. You could google them but I dont' hold out much hope that they are still around. I have noticed that the prices of their kits have gone way up on the news that they are no loger being made. I remember when their kits were deemed too much work for the average builder. Now they are like gold. Too bad I dont' have a stash of them so I could cash in too.

Alan,

I'm the only guy I know of that you can buy Royal/Marutaka parts from. I make many of the canopies and cockpit kits. The Marutaka company of Japan is gone forever. I heard a rumor about some guys wanting to buy it up, but I doubt that will happen. With some upgrades these kits could be brought up to date and re-introduced. I can make or am working on the following parts:
B-25 canopies and cockpit
P-38 canopy and cockpit along with superchargers and radiators
Corsair canopy, the -1D and Birdcage, cockpit and my own cockpit
FW 190A canopy and cockpit
Zero Canopy and Cockpit
Me-109 canopy
Cessna Skymaster/Piper/310 Cockpit
Black widow canopies and plastic fuselage and boom parts and gear doors
Stuka plastic parts and canopy

Why do I do this you might ask? I love these old kits and want to be able to build them whenever I want, and when a part gets broken I want to be able to get one. Also I don't want to pay collector prices for the old kits, I don't need to open a museum so why collect them?!

Good luck in your search for kits, they are pricey!

Dion

Wow, that's a great idea and some nice looking stuff! That is one plan that I don't have, I don't like to say this word but it seems to be kind of rare! Will they work on the Top Flite Dc-3?

Dion,

While stationed in Japan the last time during the early 1980s, I bought a .40 size Marutaka Zero with a fiberglass fuse and built up flying surfaces. Problem is, the canopy has become very yellowed and cracked over time. Do you offer a canopy for that size Zero or just the larger one?

thanks, randy

Randy,
What was the wingspan of of the .40 Zero? I have a Jemco Zero in the box but the canopies for the Jemco stuff was really bad, maybe that Marutaka canopy would work for my Jemco? Send me the canopy and I'll copy it, make sure you keep it as nice as possible though so it'll be less work to copy.

Long live the Royal P-38! as a kid I always dreamed of someday building one. finally got one flying about 10 years ago,and its still going strong! got my next one as a basket case smashed into many pieces. and a third one about 20% finished. got a few other Royal kits in the box waiting to be built.

I regret not making it to the scale fly last month. I've seen your P-38 on the ground up at Castaic, but I've yet to see it in the air. I'm still some time away from building the one I have. What other Royal/Marutaka kits do you have? I've got the Skymaster that my father started back in the 70s, an A6M5, the .60 sized Corsair (which I will need to cut a lot of new wood for) and the P-38. I'm cutting my teeth on some TF kits before starting in on these.

Scale Dail and saramos, Nice to see some other Royal fans! If you need parts for these things I can help. I make a P-38 update kit and the Skymaster cockpit kit just to name a few.

The Royal kits that I have are: 2 Corsairs, Bearcat, Stuka, Black Widow and P-38. I have plans for several others. I'm not building any of my kits though. I make a parts sheet and then have them scanned and put on CD, that way I can clean them up in my computer and print them out whenever I want to build one! It'll be a long time before these kits are gone, but they are already collectors items and I don't want to collect them (or pay that price) I want to build them!

Just put my P-38 away for the season, got 20 flights on her this year, and flew in 2 events. now its time to fly the B-24. this summer I got the wreckage of a Royal P-38. I know it looks bad but this is one plane worth rebuilding. I am going to rebuild it as a P-38F with the smaller cowels and use my old OS .46's from my beloved Tigercat R.I.P. I also have the Royal Bearcat, and P-6E Hawk kits.

That was one nice looking 38, you can tell the builder knew what he was doing. Nice details, like the radiators and superchargers! They almost look like mine! Keep us posted on the rebuild.

Its a shame, but those radiators will have to be cut off and cut down just a bit for an "F" model. the cowels were not that good to begin with, and it had standard type flaps. and the nose wheel was put in the royal recomended location-to far forward. hey Dion did you get your website back up yet. you know that i'll be ready for some P-38 parts!

Hello I have built at four Royal kits and I now have an Oscar and a Stuka that had her maiden flight this week. Those parts look great do you happen to have the Stuka wheel covers? I could sure use some.

SD,

Looks like you have a real challange on your hands. Good luck on your rebuild. I look forward to seeing the results!
The Js and later do allow more cooling for RC engines, but I've always liked the lines of the earlier versions of the P-38.
When I finally get to it, maybe I'll do an earlier version and use a pair of SP-60s turning scale props. Now if only RCV made a contra-rotating engine...

Wow, that looks messy[X(] How about electric power for the rebuild? They would be a perfect fit in the F model nacelles.

Sorry real airplanes burn liquid fuel, that flows through fuel lines and makes a loud bang when it exits the exhaust pipe! makes real airplane noise and the threat of an engine failure exists. electric belongs on park flyers!!!!

I am a Big Royal Fan as well. What started me was the P-38, while I was a kid I saw one flying and a scale event in Riverside California at the Old Riverside Raceway. That plane made the impression on me! So My Dad bought me a brand new Marutaka P-38 while they were still in production. They never came with the cockpit kit. So I sold that and bought a P-38 Royal kit...and guess from who? DION! Since then I have aquired a F4U, a c-47, a b-25, and a p-51. I am unsure of one thing and maybe somebody could answer this for me , Did they ever make a p-47? I have managed to scrape together a few of the newer upgrade parts for these kits, mostly from Dion. I did get a set of fiberglass cowels from Ebay that look pretty good for the p-38. Everything else I have gotton from Dion, His parts are of excellent quality and he has some of the best documentation of the assembly for his parts. Not only that but Dion is a very scale oriented builder, which if you are maticulous, matters to most scale builders!
Anyway, I have not flown any of these yet, nor built them, I am building my shop first, But I enjoy reading about them and collecting parts for them. Anyone wants to post there builds, I would love to read and watch!

I'm doing a Marutaka/Royal Corsair build thread here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_25...mpage_3/tm.htm though updates are slow because of lack of feedback or interest.

I just picked up a royal bearcat semi built for a steal. Problem is....it needs a rudder and all I have is the plans.....no parts list. Its my first attempt at building a plane from scratch (although most has already been done....I have to try and finish it. Do you have any ideas or can you help with the parts needed to re-do the rudder?

Cheers
