No you cannot put Firestorm shocks on a Savage...they are too short and too skinny.

You need a lot of other hardware to bolt them up. Like shock towers...

Hey TBJ!

Here is my Hellfire shocks on my savage and will work well with your custom shock towers. I'm using 30wt shock oil in them as well.

I've added the EXT LCG FLM chassis plates and going to put in my new PICCO 28. This should fly when done!

Saxy...how's your droop with them in that position? Any way you could take a picture of your truck at full droop? How's the stiffness?

BTW, truck looks awesome[8D]

stiffness is not too bad. The hellfire shocks was quite the improvement handleing wise.

This is my pic of the old racer before my mods. and the droop is where i wanted it.

That tears it. the LCG Savage is getting Hellfire shocks, and the new Savage is getting the big bores.

Damn you guys!

The only difference between Hellfire and HPI Savage big bore shocks is the length. My BB.

your ride looks sweet 46u! And you are right. The Big Bore savage shock is the same as a Hellfire Shock only Longer!

One of the other nice things about the Savage BB and the Hellfire is the shafts are all so bigger diameter then the stock shocks.

K fellas

So ThunderbirdJunkie scored a set of Hellfire SS shocks on fleabay (SCHWAYT!)

However, he is stuck with some ultra-"Pat" From SNL-esque purple shock caps on his otherwise pimp-tastic Savage[:@]

Are the RTR Hellfire's shock caps aluminum, just black ano'd, or are they a plastic cap?

ThunderbirdJunkie would far rather buy the RTR ones, if they're aluminum, rather than strip the lame (albeit very nicely done) purple anodizing from the HF shock caps

Not sure but the caps on the HPI Big Bores are plastic. Being the Hellfire and Savage BB are very similar and use some of the same parts I would say the plastic.

I keep saying one day I am going to put all my purple stuff in my blast cabinet and get rid of all the purple. Guess that day just has not gotten here yet. LOL

Thanks for the link, Jeff...ThunderbirdJunkie will be sticking with the aluminum caps and stripping them. He wishes he could get them anodized.

ThunderbirdJunkie is a cheap bastarb, so he ALWAYS gets a good deal
60 bucks shipped, pulled from a Hellfire SS kit. Considering the Hellfire SS is discontinued, your only option for the Hellfire SS shocks is to buy the parts individually, and then build.

Not sure if this is a complete list, but it looks like it:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLZU9&P=Z [email protected]
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMRD0&P=Z [email protected] (or use the plastic caps Jeff linked)

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLZV2&P=Z [email protected]

plus a few little washers and nuts here and there that ThunderbirdJunkie cannot be bothered to find right now. He doesn't have a parts list at this time.
They also came with two huge bottles of 25wt shock oil
However, he's pretty damn sure he got a DEAL on these, yes

the complete kit would cost over 100.00 to build so at 60.00...yes awsome deal!

You can get the HPI Savage Big Bores for around $80 in a kit with different pistons (different size holes), assortment of preload spacers and 2 wrenches.
