I received a Fortune 612 for Christmas. I have sailed full-size boats for years, but this is my first RC sailboat. I have enjoyed sailing it, and several others have become interested in the hobby by watching me sail. I only have salt water to sail on, so I am very careful to grease-up and seal all openings. No problems so far.
Positives:
Fun. Inexpensive. No assembly required. Buy today, sail today.
Fast in lighter winds.
Easy to transport. Fine for beginners or non-serious sailors.
Negatives:
Small boat. Overpowered by heavier winds.
Not a recognized class.
Sail trim servo not really strong enough (but I sail my big boat shorthanded so I know the tricks to pull in the jib without a winch!)
I will probably buy something bigger, better, more expensive and more accepted when this one gets boring or ruined by salt water. But I am happy with it for now.

Roughly in the same price range, but bigger (1M) and a much better sailing boat is the Voyager by Thunder Tiger (MRP 5559), a AC from the late eighties.
You'll have to make a better set of sails yourself, the stock ones are reasonably bad, made from Nylon that stretches like mad.
I've just finished a set made from Spinaker (ripstop) and she performs even better.
Regards, Jan.
