Default Synchronize engines with curve-mixer!!

Just had an idea to synchronize the two engines on my Tigercat with a 5-point mixing curve. And it worked perfectly. The engines ran absolutely synchronized over the whole throttle range.
The Cat is just 1/12 scale with two OS 25FX turning APC9x6 props.
Has anyone ever tried this with bigger engines or four stroke engines?
Comments welcome...

Default Synchronize engines with curve-mixer!!

Flo:

"Twinman" George is a big fan of this method - he also uses differential throttle for more advanced maneuvers.

Do a search on "Twinman" in the twin and multi engine threads, you'll find a lot on the subject.

Default Throttle mixing

Yes, it absolutely does work,,,,however, nothing is free and 100% wonderful.
The engines must still be checked for proper adjustment and there is always my warning to ALWAYS do the vertical engine test at full throttle before each and every flight, and always use a help with multi engine planes!!!
The mixing makes sure that the engines can run at similar settings through out the throttle up curve...as long as they are correctly and simiarly adjusted to the original set up condition. If you set one engine to allow rotary dial fine tuning, small differences of rpm can be compensated for.

The other mixing I have done, is to mix the rudders into the engines for knife edge and flat spins. Warning...Make sure this mix only works above 50% throttle setting, or taxiing could be unsafe as one engine spools up as you turn the rudder!! Then the other speeds up as you try to correct the last hard turn, and it just keeps getting worse........been there, done that...don't do that!!!!
Good Luck and be careful!!

Default Mapping engines

The post to look for is "Mapping the engines for linear response" "
Good Luck,

Default Pics of the Tiger online!

Thanks for your advices.
Just posted some pictures of the Cat in my gallery.
It flies eceptionally well and scale with the throttles half open. Anything more is simply ballistic. The noseart does not match the rest of the markings, found it after most of the paint-job was done.

Saw the original over the weekend at Flying Legends Duxford.
Feel very sad about the Firefly crash.

Default Cat

Looks fantastic...Really nice job!!!!!!
Remember ...RELIABILITY!!!
Always do the vertical engine test at full power before every flight.
Good Luck,

Default Reliability

That's why I chose the FX's. The 'nose-up' test is certainly a good thing.
Did some more flight tests now:
--> as long as both engines are running, plane does not stall, even with full back-elevator
--> one engine-flight possible, as long you keep speed up (min. speed is surprisingly low!)
--> barrel rolls possible with just rudder input!

Just received a new pic from a friend of mine. Perfect. Acts as a Desktop-Background now.
