Hi,

If it's like mine, then the cable goes from the trainer interface on the transmitter to a USB port on the computer. The transmitter does have to be turned on...it doesn't get powered from the PC.

Welcome aboard the forum!

Wow, your computer is running XP and it actually has a COM port? (I haven't seen an honest-to-goodness COM port in a while...)

Sorry to hear about your crash. We've all been there. I've only recently gotten to the point where I can fly with reasonable confidence that I won't break anything, and that's only with TI enabled. I'm still awful on "my own." Which model of DraganFlyer do you have?

Which model of Draganflyer do you have?

TI stands for "Thermal Intelligence" and is the infrared horizon detection system used to allow the DF V to self-level when being flown outdoors. (It doesn't work indoors, though.)

Good luck with the sim!

I just received my FMS interface cable and sim software from DFI, and have to say that this is a GREAT tool for training. I haven't assembled my DFV-TI but I used to have one of the old Roswell Flyers. Sure wish I had a sim like this back then. Hopefully, I won't need nearly as many of those spare parts as I ordered

Hi there,
I just recieved my Walkera Dragonfly #4 the other week along with the FMS fligth sim. The cable supplied was TX to serial, so I bought a serial to USB converter, but I still can't get Windows XP to see the TX. Any suggestions!!!

Cheers

With the DF4, you can use PPjoy with the supplied cable connected to a serial port. Search for "Zhen Hua" for info on how to set it up.

this has all you'll need.

BTW if you want to save your batteries, take the xtal off. It will drain your batteries six times less. Remember to plug it in after you finished up with your sim or you will forget to take it to the field.

just yank the xtal. without that, the rf portion of the circuit is not fed a modulation signal, thus no rf output.

No worries. The xtals are the small silver crystals that drive the TX and RX.

On the back of the tx, there is a plastic cap with the frequency # on it. Remove this plastic cap/cover and the xtal will come out with it.

To be honest, not much battery life is saved when you do that. But it is a good idea as not to put out unecessary RF. You may have a neighbor flying in his basement and it could cause him a glitch. Rare to be sure, but possible.

Hey there, I'm new to helos and I am trying to set up fms for my falcon 40. I can use it with the keyboard but not with my controller. I bought an adapter cable to run serial to usb. I think my error is in the set up. I'm not sure what number to place for what functions. Also, what is inv and exp? My choices on the functions are tail, nick, rool and pitch. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Hi Marcus...practice on FMS is highly recommended....it's a great SIM to
begin with...this is an Eflite forum...suggest you check on a forum devoted
o the Falcon or its manufacturer...that said, if no luck, search for posts by me,
JMHH, related to FMS and you'll see an extended discussion (by me and others)
on using FMS with the Eflite BCX2 TX...cheers, John H.

Hi Kevin and all...have used FMS with the BCX2 TX with great
success with Helis..decided the other day to try it with planes
...what a hoot...but, when I reset the plane to start flying,
the plane starts to take off...can't seem to trim throttle low
enough to make plane sit still to start...this is not a problem
with the Helis..the plane otherwise flies fine, save landings
are not realistic as I have to come in so fast...any thoughts
(anyone)?..I also have Real Flight G4..it's really great, but
a tad expensive, but worth it I think...the possibilities are
almost endless.....cheers, John H.
